Colonies to help needy families

| |
The Colonies Partnership will be giving 100 needy families Wells Fargo debit cards worth $200 each.

The debit cards can be used for anything the families would like, but Colonies retailers will be offering discounts to those using the cards.

"I hope it sets an example for other prosperous businesses that during these tough economic times it's time for us to help each other. We shouldn't just be waiting for the government to help," said Jeff Burum, co-founder and partner of The Colonies and CEO of the Colonies Crossroads. "We in the private sector have our responsibilities as well."

The families will be given the cards Sunday Dec. 21 during a breakfast held in conjunction with the Seventh Annual "Shop With A Cop" coordinated by the San Bernardino County Safety Employee Benefits Association.

100 more children will be able to go on $200 shopping sprees with Upland Police Officers and Fire Fighters at Target after the breakfast.
