Construction on 15th street

| |
The anticipated construction on 15th street between San Antonio and Euclid Avenues has begun.

Palm Canyon Contractors, Highland, began working on the sides of the streets on December 1.

Since the street is the only means in an out of Magnolia Elementary School, the majority of the work will be done while the students are on winter vacation.

"What we do now is what we call prep work which is mostly work on gutters and sidewalks and doesn't include closure of the street," said Anthony La, Upland public works director. "We'll get all this done so when Christmas comes we can start closing the street and do all the construction."

February 2009 is the estimated time of completion.

"It's wonderful. Some of the residents are happy its finally being done," said Debra Davis, principal at Magnolia. "I see it as being something that hopefully will make people's transit into school and on their way home a little easier.
