Firefighters quickly extinguish Upland structure fire on Christmas

A fire broke out in a two-story Upland home on Christmas day, causing minimal damage. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze in about 15 minutes.
More than a dozen firefighters responded to a reported structure fire about 11:40 p.m. Thursday in the 500 block of N. 8th Avenue. When they got there, smoke could be seen pouring out of the 1700 square-foot single family residence, according to an Upland Fire Department news release.
Members from the Upland and Rancho Cucamonga fire departments showed up to put out the flames.
Firefighters extended hose lines into the home and had the blaze out shortly before midnight, according to the news release.
One person was home during the fire, but got out of the residence safely. No injuries were reported.
The fire was confined to one bedroom and one bathroom. There was evidence of smoke damage throughout the residence.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but firefighters found candles near the suspected point of origin, according to the news release.
