Upland man arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing 4 year-old
Garrett Ammon, a teacher for the YMCA's day-care center, was arrested on suspicion of lewd acts with a child Friday after Upland police detectives spoke with the 4-year-old boy's parent, according to police.
The parent arrived Friday at the Police Department to report his son may have been sexually abused at the Upland YMCA during day care, police said.
Detectives interviewed the child and later went to the YMCA to continue the investigation, speaking to other children and Ammon.
The investigators were able to corroborate the child's statement, police said.
Police later searched the suspect's home where they seized evidence in the case, according to police.
Police detectives are still interviewing students who were being supervised by Ammon.
Ammon was booked into West Valley Detention Center on suspicion of lewd acts with a child. He is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
A woman reached at Ammon's home did not wish to comment on his arrest.
Administrators at the YMCA could not be reached for comment.
