Upland Woman Wins Emergency Management Achievement Award


Palm Springs, CA: Upland resident Brenda Hunemiller, a Disaster Management Area Coordinator for Los Angles County received the Gold Award from the California Emergency Services Association (CESA) at the organization's annual meeting in Palm Springs in October. This award recognizes superior achievement and significant contributions in the field of emergency management.


In awarding Ms. Hunemiller the Gold Award, CESA, Southern Chapter President Roland De Rocili noted that she had earned the admiration of the organizations she serves in Area D for "selfless dedication and service to ensure that all cities, schools, colleges and universities, and organizations of the private sector have the resources, training and information necessary to prepare for the many disasters to which California is subject."


Area D consists of 25 cities in the Pomona and San Gabriel Valley area. The Disaster Management Area Coordinators are responsible for training, emergency management certifications, disaster drills and exercises and promoting response readiness within their areas of responsibility.
