Upland High School Regiment takes first place in L.A. County Fair competition

| |
The Upland High School Highland Regiment on Friday took first place in the annual Los Angeles County Fair's Marching Band Parade Competition.

The Fair held the competition along with the Tournament of Roses Parade.

The band will get the opportunity to go to the 2011 Rose Parade and received $5,000.

The 206-member Highlander Regiment was invited to attend the parade competition Wednesday and performed their signature piece "Tunes of Glory," while marching the route with the Color Guard and Pipe Band.

They competed against 32 other marching bands.

Upland made the top three Wednesday and performed again Friday when they won first place.

The students will begin a fund raising campaign to fund their trip to the Rose Parade.

To donate to the Highlander Regiment visit www.uhrb.org or contact Kari Nielsen, the booster president, through the web site.
