Children's Hope opens Christmas Tree lot Tuesday
Children's Hope in Upland opened their annual Christmas Tree lot in the Scheu YMCA parking lot today.
The lot, at 1150 E. Foothill Blvd., is open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The proceeds from the tree sales goes directly to the non-profit, which cares for neglected and abused children. They also operate a boys home.
The non-profit has had much support from the community over the years, both through the tree lot and other donations.
"So many individuals and organizations have come together to support Children's Hope like Jeff Burum from The Colonies who has helped Children's Hope by remodeling their bathroom, re-roofing their house and putting in central air," said Mike Sudyka, administrator for Children's Hope.
Soroptimist International of the Foothills donates funds every year and celebrates each boy's birthday with a homemade meal and birthday gifts, Sudyka said.
Also, the North Hills Community Church does a bake sale at the tree lot to raise Christmas money for the boys being taken care of through the organization.
"And the countless individuals who give their hard earned money to Children's Hope like Don Waters, Brian DeSchaine, Bert and Gerry Sheets, Elizabeth Ertel and many others," Sudyka said. "It's a beautiful thing seeing the community coming together to care for these boys who are most vulernable and need our help."

Hello Rose,
This is Sandra Emerson from the Daily Bulletin, author of the Upland Now blog. I wanted to pass along information on Children's Hope. They did not have their Christmas tree lot last year, in 2010, and I have yet to hear if they are holding it this year. You can contact them through this e-mail, suds4god@hotmail.com or visit their facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=105731778035 to find out more about volunteering opportunities. Thank you!
