Kare Youth League thanks Upland Police department

The Kare Youth League, a non-profit year-round sports program for children, awarded the Upland Police Department for sponsoring kids who are part of the program during a special dinner held Nov. 21 at the Pacific Christian Center.

Upland police have been sponsoring kids for the past four to five years and Kare Youth League decided to thank them during the event. Through the sponsorships the kids involved are given assistance in 

The main purpose of the event was to award the children in the league and their accomplishments. 

This year is Kare Youth League's fifth in the city of Upland. It was originally founded in Pasadena in 1931 and expanded into the Inland Empire in 2006.

Kare Youth League offers sports and activities all year including: football, cheer, volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, track meet, outinges as well as summer and winter camping. 

Pacific Christian Center has been working with the league coaches, including head coach Dave Carson, on providing a facility for the kids to play their games.

The league also rents Sierra Vista Park in Upland for activities that cannot fit at the Pacific Christian Center. 

The current membership totals about 1,000.
