Upland Police Lieutenant Arlis Garner retires

Upland Police Lieutenant, Arlis Garner, has retired after 31 years of service to the Community.

Garner, a graduate of Ontario High School and Cal Poly Pomona, was a reserve officer before being hired as a patrolman.

He served on the Narcotics Task Force, SWAT Team, and as a training officer.

He was a Sergeant for 16 years and was promoted to Lieutenant where he served as the Watch Commander for the last five years.

His proudest accomplishment was training and mentoring the current Chief of Police, Steve Adams. Garner's career spanned through four Police Chiefs.
Garner has been married to his wife, Patty, for 31 years.

They have two children, Matt, who is married to Alison, and Kelly, who is married to Jonathan Gonzales.
