Volunteers needed at Upland Animal Shelter
The City is actively seeking volunteers to participate in a variety of opportunities at the newly opened Upland Animal Services Shelter, 1275 San Bernardino Road.
Volunteers are needed to provide regular assistance with walking dogs, playing with cats, showing pets to visitors, matching pets to potential adopters, grooming pets, fostering puppies and kittens as well as other activities that enhance the care and well-being of the facility's animals.
Volunteers must be at least 16-years-old.
Others who want to help but do not have time each week to work in the facility may choose to get involved with special evens, preparing promotional materials, fundraising or other functions.
There will be an information meeting about volunteering at the facility at 10 a.m. Jan. 22 at the shelter.
The meeting will include a tour of the new shelter.
To sign up for the meeting call Jon Knowlton, Animal Services Supervisor, at 909-931-4183.
Those who wish to begin volunteering immediately need to:
visit the Human Resources Department at Upland City Hall, 460 N. Euclid Ave., to fill out a volunteer services application
make an appointment for fingerprinting at the Upland Police Department
attend an orientation meeting from 8 to 9 a.m. at the shelter on the first or third Saturday of each month.
For more information call 909-931-4185 or visit www.ci.upland.ca.us and click on "animal services."
