Owner of Upland Chick-fil-A receives award
The owner of the Chick-fil-A in Upland was recently given the Symbol of Success award, the company's highest honor for a restaurant operator.
Ed Hawkins was among 54 operators to receive the award at the chain's annual meeting held from Feb. 20-23 in San Antonio, Texas.
The Symbol of Success award recognizes those who successfully achieve aggressive sales goals over the previous year.
As part of the award Hawkins earned the opportunity to select one of 13 Ford Models. First-time Symbol of Success winners receive the keys to their vehicle for one year.
Restaurant operators who match or exceed the same level of performance for the second consecutive year earn the title to the vehicle.
In a year of new product introductions, geographic expansion and new store openings, Chick-fil-A finished strong in 2010 by marking the company's 43rd consecutive year of sales growth, according to a Chick-fil-A news release.
The company reported system-wide sales of more than $3.5 billion, representing an 11.37 percent increase over the chain's 2009 overall sales performance.
The Upland Chick-fil-A is at 1949 N. Campus Ave. in the Colonies Crossroads Shopping Center.
