| |

Xavier Padilla of Upland was recently selected for the 2011 All-California Academic teams, chosen by Phi Theta Kappa, the international community college honor society.

Padilla, a student in Mt. San Antonio College's honors program, was one of two local students selected and one of 77 students selected throughout the state for the honor.

Padilla, and fellow student Lisa Ann Bastio of Pomona, receieved medallions during the Community College League of California awards ceremony held on March 21 at the Sacramento Convention Center.

The academic team is based on grades, leadership and community service.

Padilla is a business major and carries a 3.8 grade point average. He was selected for the All-California Academic First Team.

He is the current Associated Students President and served as the Student Trustee on the college's Board of Trustees last year.

Padilla is active in Mt. SAC's PTK chapter, was named a Mt. SAC Student of Distinction last year and was a member of Mt. SAC's award-winning speech team.

He plans to transfer to either USC, Chapman University, Columbia University as a business-entrepreneurship major.

The 27 first-team, 23 second-team and 27 third-team winners represent some of the best of the 2.8 million students enrolled in California's community college system.
