What a difference three years makes

Welcome to the USC spring football blog. It’s only been two days but there is a difference from the past three years. Specifically, there is a feeling of equality among the players because so few
roles are defined and the superstars no longer rule the team.

With skill players like Matt Leinart, Reggie Bush and LenDale White gone, a lot of underclassmen believe this is a chance to become a bigger part of the team. “Anybody can get the ball and that makes it more fun,” wide receiver Chris McFoy said. “It’s more equal.”

It’s also refreshing. Quarterbacks John David Booty (until he was injured) and Mark Sanchez are available to the media and fans who want autographs on a daily basis, something Leinart did not consent to.
On Wednesday, we mentioned USC could be adding an interesting player soon. Nothing’s been finalized yet, but we’ll be sure to update you as soon as something happens.

Notre Dame High of Sherman Oaks quarterback Garrett Green, who signed with USC in February, attended practice even though he also had track practice on Thursday. Green is one of the top prep hurdlers in the state.

With Booty expected to miss the rest of spring practice, it’s too bad Green didn’t graduate early because he would be the Trojans’ No. 2 quarterback.
