Recruits visit

There were quite a few recruits in attendance for the first practice in full pads. The biggest delegation came from Oaks Christian High in Westlake Village. Quarterback Jimmy Clausen, tailback Marc Tyler, wide receiver Marshall Jones and linebacker Casey Matthews.

Clausen arrived with his family and spent time with the coaching staff in the football office. He is believed to favor Notre Dame. Matthews, the younger brother of USC linebacker Clay Matthews, is also being recruited by UCLA, Oregon, Tennessee and Georgia Tech.
Also in attendance was Long Beach Poly defensive lineman Kenny Rowe, the younger brother of defensive back Alfred Rowe, who signed with USC in February.

There were a couple injuries during practice. Clay Matthews suffered a concussion while tailback-wide receiver Whitney Lewis reinjured his sore shoulder and wore a sling afterward.
