It seemed strange that after 11 straight running plays that got USC down to the Arizona State 5-yard line on its game-winning drive, the Trojans would then throw two passes to little-used fullback Jody Adewale.
But offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin said neither play was specifically designed for Adewale.
“The first time he’s waiting for Dwayne and then goes to his second option,” Kiffin said. “The other is a hot throw.”
