Here We Go Again

USC is changing John David Booty’s passing stats and Patrick Turner’s receiving stats from the Washington State game. The second play of the second series, originally ruled a backwards lateral, is being changed to a pass.
That means Booty is now 29 for 36 for 289 yards and Turner has seven receptions for 74 yards.
This “practice” of changing stats after the game also occurred last year. The problem is that even if it’s legitimate, it reeks of stat padding if you’re in Florida or Louisiana (or at a school with a Heisman candidate).
