Signal Stealing

In case you didn’t see today’s paper, here’s what I wrote on Pete Carroll and signal stealing.
New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick was recently fined $500,000 for stealing defensive signals, but it wasnt the first time the teams coach drew such an accusation. USC coach Pete Carroll said the Miami Dolphins thought he stole signals when he was the Patriots coach.
The controversy occurred in1997 when the Patriots beat the Jimmy Johnson-coached Miami Dolphins three times in a single season.
“(Linebacker) Todd Collins intercepted (quarterback) Dan Marino for a touchdown in a game and they thought we stole their signals, Carroll said. “We also had (running back) Keith Byars and he played for them the year before and he remembered their audibles, which means nothing. But they changed their playbooks the next year. I thought it was hilarious.
