As one of the BCS bigwigs, I asked Tom Hansen whether the BCS could strip USC of its national titles if the NCAA sanctions the university because of the Reggie Bush investigation.
“That’s been discussed without any resolution, so that’s questionable,” he said. “The BCS does not have any enforcement arm to it.”

LSU scuttlebutt
The word is that Virginia Commonwealth coach Anthony Grant is the frontrunner for the LSU basketball job. That should give a little bit of relief to some around USC.

Carroll (Not Caesar)
I’d classify Cathedral wide receiver Randall Carroll as a “squishy” commitment at best, considering his high interest in UCLA. But I wanted a contrarian view, so I called a Cathedral source with USC ties.
“He’s just going through the motions, he’ll go to USC,” the source said.

Meeting of the minds
As we first mentioned last week, Pete Carroll met with German soccer legend Jurgen Klinsmann on Monday.
“We had a great meeting,” Carroll said.
Klinsmann, who lives in Orange County, will become the coach at the prolific German team, Bayern Munich, next year.

The attorney for Lloyd Lake said he is waiting for Reggie Bush to provide documents proving he paid for that much-discussed Chevy Impala and a $3,000 per month condo on Wilshire Blvd. The attorney, Brian Watkins, said Bush cannot provide documents because Lake paid for the car and condo.

UC Irvine defeated USC 7-3 on Wednesday night. Irvine’s new coach is former USC player and coach Mike Gillespie, who was fired in 2006. Oh, Irvine is 4-0 so far.
