Answer Monday!

Here we go, brought to you by CaesarTV.com,. where the servers always work and we never show 23-2 baseball games.

Q: SW, how are your camera skills? Does your blog allow for you to add photos? If so, does your budget allow you to add photos? And finally if yes to all of the previous, why don’t you add photo’s from Spring ball? Fight On!

A: I’m just happy to be able to post right now. We did do videos last fall and at some point, we might put photos. But I’m not sure how informative they really are from practices. The internet fan sites seem to love them, however.

Q: There have been comments on the job the QBs are doing but have you heard comments from anyone “outside the program” on the job done coaching them? Three elite all-Americans and they all look mediocre? Corp (and Leinart) going outside the staff for help with mechanics. Booty never improving. Sounds like they really need a quarterback coach for different input, especially since they may have four all-Americans next year needing attention. Meanwhile, they have a tight ends coach and two and a half DB coaches (since Pete Carroll can help coach them). There may be more DB coaches than cornerbacks next year.

A: Maybe the DB coaches can play in the nickel. Coaching is something that tends to prove itself. For instance, if the quarterbacks consistently play well year after year, the coaching is usually a reason. Norm Chow often talked about “the system” being responsible for the success of the quarterbacks. And that was when Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart were the QBs. Steve Sarkisian did get hired by the Raiders and was contacted by the Baltimore Ravens about the offensive coordinator’s job. Does that mean he’s a great coach? No, but it shows someone likes him in the coaching community.

Q: I’m confused a bit about the first-string vs. second-string defense caveat to the QBs’ performance in last week’s scrimmage. Presumably while Mustain was working out against the first team, Sanchez was facing the second team. So where were the long bomb touchdowns from Sanchez? If the caveat were valid, shouldn’t they both have walloped the second-string? Shouldn’t they both have posted big plays?

A: Mark Sanchez usually went against the first-team defense. When he took a break, Mitch Mustain would take over against the No. 1 defense. So it wasn’t like the No. 2 offense went against the No. 1 defense when Mustain came in. Now this is not iron-clad, but it’s how it usually went. And Sanchez did have a “bomb” to Ronald Johnson, at least a 37-yard version, anyways. But the truth is Mustain might have more big-play capability.

Q: I’ve been trying to track the shuffling on the OL this spring. Who appears to be competing for the backup to Byers right now?

A: Right now, it’s Matt Meyer. But if Byers got hurt, I wouldn’t surprised if someone like Alex Parsons moved inside since Butch Lewis and Charles Brown can handle th tackle spot.
