We’re back on the song girl subject in this selection of questions.

Q: I know saying anything positive about Art Bartner is frowned upon and mocked on this blog, but should he not at least be given credit for the fine specimens of American womanhood when he was on the selection committee of the USC Song Girls in the 1980s and 1990s? Did the ugly Song Girls not all come after Dr Bartner stepped down from the selection committee, so should we not give credit where credit is due?

A: Well, he did get his daughter selected in the mid-80’s, so maybe some things never change.

Q: Do you think USC alumnus Christopher Cox would make a good running mate for Republican Senator John McCain?
The longtime OC congressman and current SEC chairman might help the ticket in California.

A: Isn’t it enough that Cindy McCain went to USC? Maybe she should become part of the song girls selection committee, although she comes from the same generation as the people who are part of the problem.

Q: How accurate is this statement – The women in charge of the Song Girls have worn out their welcome and should be replaced by some new blood.
A: Accurate.

Q: In your experience, after a recruit gives his oral committment, but says he wants to take other visits too, about what percent would you guess keep their original committment?

A: The vast majority, maybe 90 percent, honor their commitments. Usually the schools that try to prevent a recruit from visiting other schools are the ones most likely to lose them.
