Spotlight Question

This question involves Nick Montana, the son of Joe Montana. My own question is why does the greatest quarterback of all time (arguably) need Steve Clarkson to tutor his son? Doesn’t he know enough to teach him himself?

Q: Is Nick Montana a legitimate D1 prospect?
If so, is he USC caliber?
I’m just wondering because, although it is nice to get the name recognition of being associated with Joe Montana’s offspring, if he isn’t a quality player it doesn’t really matter who his dad is. So, if you could shed some light on this matter, it would be greatly appreciated.

A: Based on his performance at the Rising Stars camp, he is a Division I prospect. Now there is a difference between being a Division I prospect and being a USC prospect. He is not yet to that level and would probably be foolish to come to USC with Matt Barkley (whom he saw plenty of at the camp) just a year ahead of him.
It’s also true that he must progress the next two years to confirm he is a legit prospect, but he held his own at the camp and will interest colleges.
