Answer Tuesday, Part V

One football and one song girl question here.

Q: More controversial song girl of the 2000s, Sarah Carmona or Sydnee Hines?

A: Sarah Carmona.

Q: Re Hazelton, it certainly appears as tho the kid wants to redshirt, and the coaches don’t want him to, and with all the receivers we have, we could easily spare him. Do you think the coaches maybe are trying to make him use his year up,[and then transfer] or stay, and thus have only one year left, beause they are sour on him? I hope this is not the case, because the kid may be a lot better player in a year—-and I don’t want to be negative, but this thought did come across my mind as a possible explanation.
Could you give me your own personal thoughts on this, Scott? Thanx as always, and thank for having the open forums.

A: I think there is a general aversion to redshirt players unless they are linemen or quarterbacks within the program. Even someone who should have redshirted, Allen Bradford, played his first two years. I’m still not sure what Stafon Johnson gained from not redshirting his freshman season. It’s going to be interesting how this plays out. The coaches want Hazelton to play. Maybe it is a move to process him through faster. He believes he is not 100 percent and would like to redshirt. Stay tuned.
