USC freshman DeMar DeRozan scored 17 points Monday night against Georgia Tech so it seemed like a good time to talk to him about the hype that accompanied him to college.
“A lot of people are not in my shoes,” DeRozan said. “They don’t understand how hard a transition it is from high school to college. Even in high school, I never bought into the hype.”
It was generally assumed DeRozan would turn pro after this season but his slow start throws doubt into that plan.
“That’s one thing that’s out of my mind,” DeRozan said. “I think about that way down the road. I don’t think so much about it now. I just go out and play.”
