Pete Carroll on the UCLA recruiting controversy.
“I’m not upset. I’m just glad the air is cleared. The bottom line is it was obvious Ken had to say something. It only happened with guys we were recruiting.”

Norton Comments
Linebacker coach Ken Norton spoke after practice about UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel’s statement denying he told recruits Norton was leaving USC for his alma mater.
“I can’t respond until I see it for sure,” Norton said of the statement. “I wasn’t going to just make something up. Something is being said about me. My issue is they were talking about this stuff to recruits.”
Asked about what would happen if UCLA offered him the defensive coordinator’s job next week, Norton said, “no comment.”
Tuesday Practice Plan
OK, we were with Caesar when he inspected Howard Jones Field tonight and deemed it fit for use. So it will be the location of tomorrow’s practice. Practice will be at 12:45 p.m.
Practice Possibility
Tomorrow’s practice might also be at McAllister Field because Howard Jones Field remains soft.
Corp No. 2
Pete Carroll said Aaron Corp is the new backup QB after having better bowl practices and will assume those duties for the Penn State game.
“The past few weeks he outplayed Mitch,” Carroll said.
Week In Review
Here’s some coaching moves over the Christmas break period. None at USC, of course.

Practice Alert
For the second straight day, practice is moved to McAllister Field (30th street and Hoover).
Band Playlist
Here’s the USC band’s playlist for the Rose Bowl halftime show.
“Woman” by Wolfmother (2006)
“Almost Easy” by Avenged Sevenfold (2007)
“The Hand That Feeds” by Nine Inch Nails (2005)
The songs come from the Rock Band and Guitar Hero series of music video games. But don’t worry, something tells me we’ll still hear some Kansas on New Year’s Day.
O’Hara Interested
We made a brief mention of this in the Morning Buzz, that former USC quarterback Pat O’Hara contacted Pete Carroll about the quarterbacks coaching position. He attended several USC practices this season and was the head coach of the Avengers before the Arena Football League suspended the 2009 season.
