The handling of John Robinson, the firing of Mike Gillespie, and now the cold shoulder push out the door with refusal to fire Tim Floyd, which effectively ruined the recruiting class and set the hoops program back two years. What’s worse in your eyes Scott, Tim Floyd’s judgment, although no evidence of infractions to date, in dealing with Mayo, or Mike Garrett’s handling of the Mayo aftermath? Is Mike Garrett’s job security in question?

A: I think Floyd’s judgment because he allowed Rodney Guillory to hang around the program and in the end, Mayo’s impact on the program was minimal. He could have gotten the same results without the appearance of impropriety.

In the past 20 years, the following USC basketball coaches left their positions under very unusual and extremely abrupt circumstances – George Raveling, Charlie Parker, Henry Bibby, Rick Majerus and Tim Floyd.

Could this officially be considered a USC basketball coach jinx?

A: Sort of like the SI cover jinx? I’m game. Or maybe it’s just who USC hired as coaches. But I like jinx theories.
