There was no news that USC contacted OSU’s Craig Robinson regarding the hoops coaching vacancy. Supposedly, AD Garrett preferred a coach with NBA experience, although that is in contrast to Dixon being candidate #1. Did USC ever target Craig Robinson for the job, and if not, why not?

A: USC never targeted Robinson. I believe they wanted a more experienced coach. Although much has been written about Mike Garrett wanting someone with pro experience, I don’t think this is the case. Kevin O’Neill was hired off the fact he led at four college programs. The fact he was the Toronto Raptors coach for a season was incidental.

Was USC’s situation so bad with penalties that it scared off all the candidates that barely no one wanted the job?

A: It was not the determining factor from what I’ve heard. Guys like Lon Kruger who were comfortable and did not want to have to rebuild a program. Others, like Jamie Dixon, were not offered the money necessary to force a move west. The NCAA investigation didn’t help, but it didn’t eliminate anyone either.

Mr. Wolf, are recruits impressed and somewhat influenced to commit to USC by PC’s non-profit organization to improve the lives of inner city youth or it is really just about football?

A: It’s really just about football.
