Morning Buzz

Did Tim Floyd’s decision to interview with Arizona lead to his demise? Guard Solomon Hill used the interview as his excuse to switch from USC to Arizona. Guard Noel Johnson was quoted saying it was the first thing that caused him to seek his release. That departure helped hasten the departure of recruits Lamont Jones and Derrick Williams (both to Arizona apparently).
If reports Williams will go to Arizona are true, the Wildcats will end up with three of USC’s recruits (Hill, Jones, Willams). Who could predict this three months ago?

Is this going to be Kevin O’Neill’s first lineup?

Forward: Leonard Washington
Forward: Nikola Vucevic
Center: Alex Stepheson
Guard: Dwight Lewis
Guard: Donte Smith

Baseball Signings

USC recruit Jiovanni Mier signed a pro contract worth $1.358 million. He joins USC’s other first-round picks, Matt Davidson and Brooks Pounders, who signed earlier. Davidson got $900,000 while Pounders got $670,000.
USC junior pitcher Robert Stock previously signed for $550,000.

Long Shot?

It will be interesting to see if USC has any chance of convincing forward Derrick Williams to reconsider after he received his release. Arizona and Memphis are the frontrunners but it would be foolish for new coach Kevin O’Neill to not try and see if Williams would give USC a second look.
