A question here involving Charlie Weis.

Who runs event programming for the Galen Center?
A: The athletic dept. controls event programming. I hear they are going to try to add some stuff to the website to try to raise the profile of the arena. The truth is that since it opened, there have been fewer events than the athletic dept. expected, especially concerts. It’s one reason the arena has not generated the expected revenue. I’m sure it did not help that AEG opened the Nokia Theatre which handles a lot of concerts that do not require the huge crowds of Staples Center.

What is Ceasar’s relationship with Charlie Weis like? Did they know each other before they were at their respective schools?
A: I don’t really know any coach that really likes Charlie Weis. Pete Carroll and Charlie Weis were familiar with each other from their days in the NFL. Especially since each worked for the New England Patriots (at different times). You might recall my story on the day of last season’s USC-Notre Dame game, when I wrote how Carroll approached Weis during warmups for the 2006 game and said something to the affect of, “How are you going to be any good next year when you lose so many players?” That’s not a comment you make to a fellow coach that you enjoy a cordial relationship with.
