A: The answer is simple. Pete Carroll allows players to wear whatever number they want, when possible. So he doesn’t care if two players want the same number, as long as one is on offense and one on defense. It probably helps out in recruiting to some extent. Of course, the most extreme example was when Darnell Bing was given No. 20, which was Mike Garrett’s retired number.
