Carroll On Potential Rules Violation
Pete Carroll spoke this morning about allegations that he broke NCAA rules by hiring former NFL special coach Pete Rodriguez and letting him attend practices.
“This is something where we have gone through all the proper channels,” Carroll said. “We’ve documented it. To get to the point where he could be a consultant, we did all our homework. This is something we dealt with a long time ago.”
Rules Meeting
Pete Carroll launched an impassioned defense of the new rule regarding players being ejected for flagrant personal fouls this season. Carroll objected that defensive players could make hard hits that are interpreted as personal fouls.

Udeze Retires
Former USC defensive lineman Kenechi Udeze has retired from football. He missed last season because of leukemia. Vikings coach Brad Childress said Udeze ended his comeback attempt.
Pflugrad News
Here’s some good news from the Associated Press in Montana:
“Robin Pflugrad has been named the wide receivers coach at the University of Montana.
Pflugrad (FLEW’-grad) was an assistant at Montana from 1986-94, including serving as assistant head coach to Don Read from 1991-94.”
Telfort Comment
Here’s the statement from Pete Carroll on linebacker Frankie Telfort’s genetic heart condition that will prevent him from playing football.
“This is obviously very difficult news for Frankie, his family and all of us in the football program,” Coach Pete Carroll said. “But we’re very thankful doctors discovered the issue before it led to anything worse.”
