Midway MVP

For me, USC’s MVP through six games is middle linebacker Chris Galippo.
We could point to performance, with his interception against Ohio State that led to a touchdown. Without that play, USC loses the game.
Then there was yesterday, when Notre Dame had a third-and-2 at the USC 28 on the first possession of the third quarter. Galippo and Jurrell Casey stopped Armando Allen for a 1-yard gain. On fourth-and-1, Galippo and Everson Griffen stopped James Aldridge for no gain.
But that’s not half the story. Galippo’s leadership is what makes him just as valuable this season. He frequently speaks to teammates during the game to point things out and yesterday went out of his way to make sure no one celebrated too much after Griffen’s costly penalty.
