We’ll answer UCLA questions first due to the timely nature of the game.

What do you think about Pete selling Damian Williams out for the sake of MB7?

A: I thought it was pretty surprising, actually, because Williams is such a high-profile player and not surprising because Barkley enjoys a special place in the program. I’m trying to remember how many of Mark Sanchez’s interceptions were blamed on others. Williams was double-covered on the play so I don’t know how it was a great decision to throw to him in the first place. But like the Stanford game, I’ve become used to hearing alibis.

Please explain to me why think the USC-UCLA rivalry was anything but exciting?
It was a defensive battle all game and was 14-7 in the 4th quarter. What more do you want, a 30-40 point game (like the Big-12) so that you can criticize the defense again? We already knew the offense struggled, the defense played well, what is it now?
The ending just added fuel to the fire and truly renewed the rivalry, how could you possibly feel otherwise?
Just to play devil’s advocate so your “job” is less boring?

A: I said the game was boring up until the last minute, so don’t confuse two issues. I don’t consider the game a “defensive struggle.” I considered two inept offenses matching wits. Particularly disappointing in USC’s case because of the talent difference between the offenses. But maybe the wits are not all there. If you want to sleepwalk through 59 minutes in 12 penalty games with almost no offense, that is your right. Just as I have the right to describe it as insufferable to watch.

Do you envision Norm Chow sticking around another year at SUCLA now that the Titans will no longer be paying him?

A: He receives one more year of Titans money, I believe. So I think he will be around at least one more season.
