Kent On O’Neill

Here’s Oregon coach Ernie Kent on the job USC coach Kevin O’Neill did this season.
“I think he has done one of the better jobs in the conference because they have played hard. They are a very good basketball team that is very well coached.
“They have a certain style of play that bothers people. So I think he has done a tremendous job with all of the notoriety and everything that came their way towards their program early on. He’s done a nice job of calming that team keeping focused.”

O’Neill On Pac-10 Race

USC coach Kevin O’Neill on the Trojans being a game out in the loss column in the Pac-10 race: “Well it was a goal of ours from the beginning obviously. It would be a huge thing for our players to be able to do that but we know we have a lot of work in front of us.
“Obviously Cal and Arizona State are in the driver’s seat at this point, but for us we have eight hours of basketball left, four games. So for us that is all we can play for at this point and we are going to take it one game at a time and see what happens. No matter what happens our players have done a great, great job this year in the face of adversity. I am proud of them and I hope we can keep on winning.”

Dual Residence

USC football coach Lane Kiffin still owns homes in Oakland and Tennessee. The question is who would buy his house in Knoxville? No Tennessee fan that did not want to hear comments on a daily basis.

Mr. Jones

How important will Jarvis Jones be next season? Even if he is just a backup, he is probably the only quality player who can play strongside or middle linebacker and possibly challenge Devon Kennard to start at the strongside position.
He was hampered by a neck and shoulder injury last season but arrived with a big reputation and did not have the first season of Manti Te’o or Vontaze Burfict. He really needs to step up next year if USC’s linebackers are not going to remain a question mark.
Pete Carroll used to rave about him in early practices, so we will see if he can make an impact next year.
