Mr. Stay In School

Pete Carroll repeatedly preached that college football players should stay in school for all four years before turning pro. So what does he do in his first draft in Seattle?
He drafts sophomore safety Earl Thomas of Texas. So much for staying in school.
Now everyone should know why Carroll skipped USC’s Pro Day to attend Texas’ Pro Day instead.

  5. Earl Thomas first-round money will help mom and dad:

Less than five years ago, Earl Thomas, his brother and parents lived for a year in one room in a Motel 6 after Hurricane Rita tore through Orange, Texas, and destroyed their home.

Thomas had two more years of eligibility remaining. But with his parents staying in cramped quarters at his grandparents home in Orange, Texas, he saw an opportunity to relieve his familys financial burden.

“That was one of the main reasons why I came out (early for the draft),” Thomas said, “because of the house situation.”

I wish Earl all the success in the NFL. I wish all the UCLA castoffs on an ‘SC blog would @#$% themselves.

This just in…. UCLA Football sucks!!!
