Talk recruiting, Since Wittek committed who is next in line? Any new offers go out after the Nike Camp? I heard Wittek and the Mamba want to play together, so does this help us with De’Anthony?

A: There are going to be a lot of offers made next week when the coaches go out on the road and visit high schools. I think Max Wittek’s commitment helps with two recruits: Crenshaw athlete De’Anthony Thomas and Serra wide receiver George Farmer. Skill players always like to know they have a quarterback from their class to help them be successful.
USC is actually in a position to land some of the country’s top players at quarterback(Wittek), athletes (Thomas), wide receiver (Farmer) and defensive tackles (Antwaun Woods).

Is Kiffin’s offensive line still zone blocking? Or are they doing some reach blocking-guard & tackle pulling?

A: USC is going to be a primarily zone blocking team, which is what the Raiders and Tennessee were under Lane Kiffin. USC will do some reach blocking, where you try to seal off outside pursuit at the line of scrimmage but zone blocking will be the identity of the offensive line.

Any idea what type of possible sanctions that USC will be given? Do you know if it will be a harsh penalties that will impact this season and other seasons?

A: That’s the question on everyone’s minds. And no one knows the honest answer. If you go by recent history, the NCAA makes teams forfeit games (Alabama, for example). That would be the safe answers. But does the NCAA want to make an example of USC because this case is so high-profile? That’s the wild card factor.

SW….Do agree that Jesse Scroggings will now become the “spread offense”, mobile QB on the scout team now that Max Wittek has committed! We will now have a bonafide backup QB for MB7 in the depth chart! I have always felt that Scroggins is overrated! What’s your take on this?

A: I don’t think the coaching staff took Wittek with the view Scroggins goes to the scout team. Tennessee wanted Scroggins when Kiffin was the head coach. The more likely answer is that Lane Kiffin was worried about the quarterback situation with Mitch Mustain leaving after this year and Matt Barkley likely leaving in two years. So USC needs QBs and will sign one the following year too.

any reason why the pac-10 has not formed a TV network yet. This would help so much with national exposure, recruiting, revenue and place us in a better position for expansion.

bmonkey……..They would love to. This is why expansion makes sense. Expansion is all about TV revenue. Texas expansion to Texas Tech (Dallas) and University of Houston would add two of the largest TV markets in the country.
