Jim Brownfield, a former USC assistant coach under John McKay, died Monday. He was 81. Brownfield was best known as the football coach at Muir High School in Pasadena, where he won six Southern Section titles. He also won four titles as the girls’ track coach.
After he retired, Brownfield often showed up at Trojan Football Coaches’ Alumni meetings at USC.
