  1. Touche! Curiously, at least as of yesterday, the UCLA blog was devoid of SC people commenting on this incident, but probably not today. The worm has turned.

  2. It is very sad to see these kids who have so much to gain toss it all away with such stupid acts. I also do not wish for UCLA to go through any NCAA crap like we did because their players were caught making very bad decisions without the coaches’ knowledge.

You see Rick did not know that his players were receiving extra benefits (via theft) any more than Pete and Todd knew what Reggie’s step-father was up to. The NCAA should hold accountable for what the coaches do for the kids and/or assist others and/or are aware of assistance or within reason should be aware. Being responsible for knowing all of the business affairs and transactions of the players family is just not reasonable. The NCAA should also be accountable to provide proof that would hold up in a court of law and not rely on assumption or a hunch as they did with Todd.

I wish the UCLA program well through this trying time as I do Oregon. It is very difficult on programs to have this kind of adversity and it clouds unfairly the universities and all the good people that work so hard to make everything right.

    My two cents worth…

  3. USC is unique and special. that goes to say that their is nothing unique and special about ucla. ucla fans wanna come and raid USC’s blogs because their’s nothing interesting to read about FUCLA.

    V Fight On! V

  4. I have no interest in ucla blogs. With that said, no one school has a monopoly on morons. Remember Billy Don Jackson.

  5. UCLA grads are not allowed to talk trash at work, since they invariably work for USC grads. They’re not allowed to talk trash at home with their families, since nobody else in their family ever dreamed of attending college. So they come here. It’s like an outlet.

  6. i am reading between the lines and what i am picking up is a whole lot of envy. you people just wish you were all Bruins.

i know now that UCLA is bigger than life! i am invigorated by this!!!

  7. Sy, thanks for your classy post.
    BoscoH, yeah right.
USC fan, your blogs are more entertaining, you give us Bruin fans much more juicy stuff to talk about.
SoCalHIV, what has turned? is UCLA under sanctions now?? LMAO
Trojan Conquest, I thought USC had the monopoly on morons and thugs, I guess I was wrong.

Three arrests from players that haven’t not even worn the UCLA uniform and have not been acclamaited to what UCLA stands for, does not give me a reason to think that UCLA has turned into another USC attracting thugs to the program.

Shirley was released without bail, and the other two were held longer with a posted bail, if they are found to have one ounce of guilt, I hope they get kicked off the team and UCLA will have more scholarships to give out, we need them for the 2011 since UCLA only has 13 to give out.

Having said that, with 3 arrests, UCLA is barely scratching the surface compared to the dozens of USC players having been arrested for rape, assault, possession of drugs, possession of a fire arm, and assault with a fire arm with in the past 10 years.

Now, if this incident makes you trojan fans feel better from being slammed with the NCAA sanctions, then by no means! ENJOY during these most trying difficult times.

  8. poor lil fucla robbie. bottom line: NOBODY would rather be a bRuin over a Trojan. Period.

now turn on your dvr and watch all the bull about that filthy cheating basketball coach. makes me want to barf.

at least our players are offer money and don’t have to STEAL it. ROFLMAO

  9. @ KNOBS,

Might want to check what the most applied to school in the nation has been over the past 6 consecutive years. You’re called Second Choice for a reason (and even THAT’s being generous).

    @ SY,

You’re seriously equating USCs (possession/contraction apostrophes are optional, according to you) violations to UCLAs? Nice logic there, fella. Your logic is as weak as your diction–you take more liberties with the English language than Garrett takes with the NCAA rulebook.

The difference is that UCLA fans and alumni are ALREADY calling for their ouster if the allegations are proven true–USC would give them a raise. You STILL have Garrett and Dog-fighting, cover-up artist McNair on staff, and (despite your weak protests that OJ is “tired news”) his jersey still flies high in the Mausoleum, and tainted trophy is still in Inheritance Hall.

  10. Rob: Before you try posting big words, learn to spell them. Oh, I forgot, you went to UCLA. Sorry thing for you is that it’s your recruiting class – you’ve lost them before they even started. Better revise your selection techniques.

  11. Maize- It’s only because we cost much more. You get what you pay for. As for the bRuins calling for heads to roll, it’s total BS and you know it. Just a typical show boat. Hey, remember, you had 20 wins IN A ROW and didn’t win the NC!!! hahahahaha ROFLMAO

  12. UCLA ROB,

I had asked you a question in one of the previous threads. I’ll assume you missed it and weren’t ducking it so I’ll try again.

You said Shirley, Richardson and Richardson weren’t Bruins since they hadn’t put on a jersey even though they were enrolled in summer classes as this article metions:

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/06/26/ucla-football-arrests-3-n_n_626768.html

Do you put athletes in a different category than students or were you just unaware that they were enrolled and part of the Bruin family?

  13. UCLA “football” recruits (LOL!!! ha,ha,ha,ha!!!) are THUGS! THEY break the LAW, they engage in FELONIOUS illicit anti social behavior that causes personal injury and harm to innocent citiczens (in the case of the “three amigos”) they choose to attack a WOMAN. Nice! Not surprising mind you. After all the best they could do was to attend UCLA. This is the standard operating proceedure for thug punk gangsta “football” recruits from the hoods where Rick Neuheisel tramps in hope of putting together a recruitting class capable of winning 4 or 5 games in a given season. NO great high school football players are about to sit across from R I C K N E U H E I S A L and listed to him run B.S smack about “integrity” or “pride” and running an upstanding program.

Reggie Bush’s parents got free rent! FREE RENT. They, nor RB mugged a WOMAN for her purse! This speaks VOLUMES about the caliber of “athlete” that the UCLA “football program” (LOL!!! ha,ha,ha,ha,ha!!!) attracks.

    Here’s the word: 2010 UCLA 4-8

  14. You guys are getting out of control here. This is not a USC vs UCLA rally before the big game. Lets stick to the subjects at hand. USC hates UCLA. UCLA hates USC…Ok there. Nothing else to add.

    REALITY:
Now UCLA fans this is a USC blog. If you want to speak with intelligence we enjoy smack here even from Bruin fans. But childish rants are ..well…YAWN….
We dont care about UCLA. You want to give some educated input to the USC blog ..fine… otherwise its …YAWN…. FIGHT ON !

  15. KNOBS, you’re too much. Spin, spin, spin…deny, deny, deny,…deflect, deflect, deflect. (lather, rinse, repeat).

All that glitters “ain’t” gold…and I do believe the academic rankings would agree with me. Even taking into account the book-cooking tactics that private schools are allowed to take, and Dr. “Skewed” Sample’s well-documented practice of not including athlete (NOR legacy) GPA and SAT scores in the final tally, you STILL couldn’t overcome us. Simple Sample closed the gap some, but just couldn’t quite do it–must be an NCAA conspiracy, right?

I didn’t even get to mention Sample’s practice of inflating the number of tenured PhD’s in multiple Departments to boost rankings–or the practice of combining a multiple SAT-takers’ highest Math and Verbal scores.

Some work for it, others have their Daddies get them into ‘SC, and the rest are disenfranchised Raider fans.

  17. trojan conquest probably conquered a cheer leader.Billy Don Jackson was rehabilitated and completed his education;unlike some other jocks who won”t accept responsibility for putting their school on probation.I understand that Pete,Reggie and OJ are getting together to find the real killer.

  18. @ hadenusc

I appreciate the well-intentioned call for cooler heads. The fact is, the topic of THIS particular post is UCLA-related, so you should expect a few UCLA folks to chime in.

Then you have knobs like KNOBS looking foolish, trying to call out John Wooden and engage in some self-congratulatory grave-dancing (like s/he’d ever do anything a FRACTION as important as Coach Wooden in his/her lifetime), on the day of his public memorial–as a USC fan and/or alum, are you really proud of that? Are you proud of being associated with people like KNOBS, Garrett, McNair, OJ, OJ2, Floyd, Cooper, Carroll, etc. etc. etc?

    Win at ALL costs…CHEAT on!

  19. For those keeping track:

BruinRob, UCLA ROB and Maze are all the same guy.

He switched off because he doesn’t want to answer my question.

  20. Maze,

Why are you so obsessed with the USC websites? Do you seriously have nothing better to do in your basement?

I’m sorry for you that in all of these years UCLA have never been able to produce a Heisman winner (USC has six of course when excluding Reggie placing it 3rd to Notre Dame and Ohio State both having 7). You still hail Walton and co. even though he admitted huge rules violations with unlimited extra benefits for all of the UCLA top players. So what, you got away with it so who cares – certainly not you! As for OJ; he was a great player and won the Heisman. The fact he was a shit later in life and became a criminal did not change what he did when he was at USC.

Garrett may not be eloquent and shows poor judgment on several occasions, but he has found good coaches and our athletic department has been both very successful and profitable under his watch, which are important functions of his job. Being a Heisman winner for USC also deserves our respect.

Carroll was only found guilty of hiring one too many coaches (a special teams coach/consultant was added improperly).

McNair’s involvement is nonsense and time I believe will fully vindicate him. The NCAA made major mistakes in his case and if the appeals process does not correct the injustice then I’m sure the courts will.

As for the ouster of UCLA players, USC did not know about Reggie until after he left the school. Joe was discovered during and immediately removed from the team and not allowed to travel to their bowl game. That was why he left early even though he was not ready and subsequently went late in the draft.

We did not cheat. You obviously did not read the NCAA report. A player took benefits without the assistance of our staff. They claimed that McNair found out about it after the bowl game (Reggie’s last game) in 2006. At no time does the report say that our coaches or alumni made recruiting violations, gave extra benefits to its football players or assisted anyone else to give extra benefits.

So discuss a subject that you might actually know something about and while youre at it get a life!

  21. Ozesno, obviously you didn’t get my sarcasm in the comment…yes they are Bruins, and Yes I am embarrassed by whatever they did, getting arrested period is shameful, specially after poking so much fun at USC for their arrests.
Datraut, pssssst, shaking my head. Thanks for the laugh.
SocalMAB, I wouldn’t be a trojan if you paid me.
NOBS, I didn’t go to UCLA, my son will be in the Fall, I’m just a big fan. I don’t do spell check, and you sound like a whinning little girl.
Haden, who gives a rat’s ass what you think…yaaaaawn.
Ozesno, UCLA ROB and Bruin Rob is yours truly. Maze, I don’t know who he is. There is also Westwood Rob, that is also NOT me.

  22. @ Sy,

I live in Newport Beach, boy…(BA ’04, MBA ’06). How many people in CA do you know with basements? Try again.

UCLA’s Heisman winner, Gary Beban (1967) is the Global Manager of CB Richard Ellis. Do some research.

Your most famous Heisman “Winner” is a double-murdering thug, currently incarcerated for armed robbery. Your second most famous Heisman “winner” received $300K in “cash and prizes”, and is in danger of having his “H-Man” taken away. Your ORIGINAL Heisman “winner” is a 5-time CA BAR Exam failure, and is currently overseeing your entire morally bankrupt “athletic department”.

    You lose.

  23. @ Osezno,

Not sure what question you’re referring to, but no, we’re not the same person. I know how SC fans like to drum up conspiracy theories like “the NCAA wants to take us down because we were TOO successful”, and the like, but nope, different guy. Take off your tin-foil hat, fella.

  24. @ Osezno,

  25. Maze/UCLA ROB/BruinRob,

You can repeat it as many times as you want but it doesn’t change the fact that you’re all the same bitter old coot.

Grip tight onto your man-purse the next time you walk around campus, your fellow bruins like to steal from their own.

  26. Mazie, learn how to post. Your only Heisman was probably the WORST President CB ever had. Dry, dumb and as much help as a pimple on a boar’s a$$. You know, like you. Linda has LOTS of basements, which is probably where you live. Old and tired. Or in daddy’s house.

  27. Bruin Rob speaks the truth — he is not me. ONLY I AM ME!

Troxans, you can argue about alumnii all you want, but the facts remain — UCLA has inspiring, world-changing athletes like Jackie Robinson and Nelson Mandela, while you have murderers like Michael “the Juice” Vick, and cheaters like Barry Bonds!

    Go BruWins!
