Morning Buzz

It’s the pre-England v. Germany answer segment.

Have all the freshmen reported to campus yet for summer school and workouts? Specifically has Seantrel Henderson enrolled yet for summer school?

A: Obviously, it is quite well known that Henderson has not reported yet. I understand he was told about USC’s self-imposed penalty during a visit early last week by Lane Kiffin and his assistant coaches. But it looks like he is going to make Kiffin and Co. sweat a little before he makes up his mind. He’s been a tempermental commit and signing. And it would have been great to hear what he was told in that meeting last week because Kiffin probably had some explaining to do from previous meetings when he supposedly said he did not expect major penalties from the NCAA.

Scott,

My question is…why won’t you answer the two past questions submitted in your 2 previous Open Forums? Just in case it’s just an oversight, here’s the question….again.

SW,

Sentral Henderson’s been given #77 so I’m curious to know if the transfer was made with Graf’s blessing’s or is this Lane Kiffin’s version of Jersey-Gate, a.k.a Whitney Lewis?

A: I don’t know if Graf gave his blessing. And I don’t know if Henderson will actually show up, so Graf might get his number back. Just one more sidelight to all the drama this summer regarding the NCAA sanctions.

Dear Mr. Wolf,

With the reputations of Mike Garett, Pete Carroll, Tim Floyd, McNair, and Kiffen now thoroughly besmirched by the USC cheating scandal, how did UCLA’s own Norm Chow spend so many years at USC without being tainted by USC’s general atmosphere of corruption? How did Norm Chow remain pure of heart, in that den of sharks?

A: I don’t recall Kiffin being mentioned in the NCAA report, so I guess you could say he and Chow are not accused of wrongdoing during that period. Or did you only want Chow to be the one free from the taint of probation?

  1. As less than a casual fan, but having watched much of the last two USA games, here is my 2-cents worth regarding the world’s game of soccer:

    1. As one who was weaned on American football, I am used to long drives generating points. If a touchdown is not attained then at least the advancing team has an opportunity to salvage something from its hard-earned efforts i.e. kick a field goal;

    2. If only a point were scored for touchdowns and 1/2 point for field goals, the average football score would be about 3 1/2 to 3. Now, if soccer scored at this same ratio it would be more interesting. But 0-0 games, 1-0 and 2-1 just don’t produce enough excitement.

    3. Another situation that arises with such a low scoring game is that it levels the playing field for average teams playing against much better teams. Some would say this is a good thing, but it is not if one team is clearly better than the other, but the point score does not prove it.

    4. The use of the arms is prohibited, but I saw some
pretty flagrant fouling around the head to gain an advantage. That is too hard for the refs to police, but it did detract from the game for me.

I take it back, that was not 2-cents worth of analysis, more like 1-cent.

  2. The Germans took care of the limp wrists, it’s the illegals next, MUUUUUUAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH !!!!!!!!

  3. Gee Westwood Rob How bout them arrests in Westwood this weekend. No mention of that huh!

  4. I dig go go girls,
illegals? uhhh?? my prediction is Argentina whoops asss on your NAZIS.
    SCUSfan,
Since RN has taken over the Monopoly in L.A. Football 100%, arrests unfortunately are part of the territory…we don’t do anything halfass in Westwood, but three arrests only tells me we’re a LOOOOOOOONG way to go to come close to the standards set at South Central, but we’re trying!! give us al least that much credit. Go Bruins!!
