  1. yow! this represents a scathing indictment of Cheatey’s defensive philosophy!! everyone up to and including Bruins were always mystified (and grateful) that he kept Mays back to receive punts on every play, despite the fact he was clearly Southern Cal’s best defensive player!!

now the Old Monty is getting things back into perspective. too bad his talent level is so low or the old salt might actually put something together!

  2. Bucket, there is a reason you and Wolf are not coaches. You don’t structure a defense around the roles players “wish” they could play. 2009 was an off year for USC. But…despite losing 4 LBs to the NFL, the team still finished 19th in the nation in scoring defense.

It’s fair of Wolf to question how Taylor Mays was utilized last season, but it disappointing that his only criticism of the situation is a speculation that Taylor “wished” he could have played a different role.

I “wish” USC had a better beat reporter, but it ain’t happening.

  3. The Bruins can’t be too grateful with the whopping 8.5 point average the bear cubs mustered up against Taylor’s defense. Or were those four touchdowns and two field goals in the last four years something to be proud of? Take into consideration that UCLA’s had a kicker who can blast 50 yard field goals in his sleep all that time and it’s just pathetic.

  4. Mother refuses to tell me whether my father is this mysterious “John” who left USC in 1983 to go coach the L.A. Rams (is there even such a team?). I guess I’ll never know the truth.

Rather than change my world-view based on this troubling information that I can’t explain, I think I will just ignore it, pretend it doesn’t exist, and go on my merry way. That seems to work for Sarah Palin.

So I will treasure my memories of UCLA’s 1990s dominance, back when UCLA QB Golan Globus was throwing bombs to wide retriever Vlad “Gazpacho” Gazpachinski, and UCLA LB JaManfred Jackson was pulverizing USC QB Dustine Frode and USC’s albino running back Tank Padilla, aka White Lightning.

Besides, why focus on the past when UCLA is putting together a dynasty that will rock L.A. for the rest of this decade? And meanwhile, the sanctions will have the Troxans taking the field in arm-casts and neck braces.

Now and forever, Troxans: Taste it!

  5. defensively speaking, monte is the master and peaty was a successful protege who was a master recruiter. our defense was good, now it will be better with monte the master.

lots of old usc games on espn classic, etc. this weekend. set your divo’s and start the football season early. i wonder why classic isn’t showing bruin games. oh yeah, because they haven’t had a decent team since troy aikmen. must be tough. hopefully they can be a legit top-ten next year along with the irish in case sanctions are still in place and the trojans will need some solid wins on their schedule in order to claim the ap title. keep fighting the good fight my bruin friends.

    cheers.

  6. Hey Westwood Rob,

I hope you get tired of writing those long, retarded comments every day, soon. It just wastes 1 extra second of my day scrolling past your stupidity. I want to read more insightful things people have to say.

But of course, knowing that you’re some bRuin douchebag, you’ll continue posting them both to spite me and because you’re simply a moron with nothing better to do.

Enjoy spending your days writing nonsense on a USC blog, you total loser.

    FIGHT ON!

  7. Cerritos-Westwood-Bruin Rob: Your posts are an embarassment to you and your now ranked #25 school (now your are sucking hind tit not only in football and basketball but in overall academic rankings). How does that taste? Please take your sorry act elsewhere and let the rest of us try and enjoy some enlightenment from SW. Yeah right…

  8. Hey Scinsc, since Troy Aikman, Cade McNown beat sc 4 years in a row! even in your glory stadium! so get your facts right!

  9. Maloman – i don’t let facts get in the way when i’m trying to tell a story. i admit that ucla’s last good team was ’98 when they apparently choked and couldn’t go to the bcs title game. i don’t remember that far back because i had lost interest in college football because usc sucked (i’m young and can barely remember the early eighties).

apparently ucla was 10-2 sometime around 2005, but i don’t remember fearing them that year. and no, these sanctions will never erase my memories of bush, et al.

please get your bruins to top-ten caliber by next year in case we need a win over you to help our ap title run.

    thank you

  10. JUG: well played, my trOJie friend.

but i know one day you will apprecitate wolf’s sweeeeeet scooops like most of us do!!

as for me, there are a number of other reasons i am not a coach, but i won’t go into those at this time.

  11. No need to exlain, Bucket.

It’s hard to be a coach when you can’t legally come within 1000 yards of a school. 😉

  12. nice work JUG: i put one in your wheelhouse and you drove the ball into the seats in dead center! you’re in the zone!

see, Paralegal?? i can be done. takes some notes from JUG or Retired Bill….or better yet, just stick to your sanctimonious soap-boxing, that way you’ll stay out of trouble!

    oooooooooooooOOOOOOOOooooooooo!!
