Heisman To Young?

Former Texas quarterback Colt McCoy told radio station KILT in Houston that Vince Young should get Reggie Bush’s Heisman Trophy if Bush loses the award.
“I mean obviously if they’re going to strip it from Reggie, it should go to the second place guy, and that’s Vince. You know, Vince is obviously a close friend of mine and he taught me a lot while I was at Texas, and I really look up to him. So it’s just a matter of…I don’t know how that all works, but I think it would be really neat.”

  1. Seriously, why all this talk about giving the Heisman to VY?
He has stated SEVERAL time he would NOT accept the trophy.
And why would he want to? Reggie won in a landslide; he smoked him in the voting.
    It’s getting a little ridiculous.

  2. What Colt fails to realize with that public school education is that Bush cannibalized many votes from 3rd place Leinart. Had Bush been ineligible, Leinart’s vote count would have skyrocketed, probably past Vince. Revising history is a complicated game.

  3. If their going to re-do the Heisman for that year based on information that has since come to light, they should give it to Mojo Drew, obviously.

  4. Earth-to-Scott, What Colt has is called “AN OPINION”. Perhaps you’ve heard of it before.
It’s been said that opinions are like some ubiquitous body parts…everybody has one.

Why not track down some opinions from those few people who matter, like members of the Heisman Trust?

  5. I was very impressed to hear that Vince Young wouldn’t take the trophy.

I can see how Mack Brown wants to force it on Young so the school can say they have another Heisman winner. Not sure why Colt McCoy is getting involved.

  6. Bad thinking Colt. Things are rarely that simple. If Reggie was ineligible, do you suppose that more votes would have gone to Leinart? As it was, the USC vote was split
    .0.

  7. Who the hell cares what Dolt McCoy thinks? These dumb Texans only care about one thing: Texas. It’s not like they are espousing some noble theory of fairness. It’s just, “Give it to Vince.” They come off looking pathetic, like they still haven’t given it up. You won the National Championship that year; give it a rest and focus on the present, like humiliating UCLA.

  8. Colt clearly fails to recognize that if the Heisman were to be given to Young, when news of his “help” in school got out (he is functionally illiterate after all) the trophy would then slide down to the third place winner, one Mr. Matt Leinart.

  9. The Donkey always knew Mr. McCoy’s IQ was in the range of the caliber weapons his namesake weapons accept.

  10. So Vince would have the victory and NC, the Heisman and a pro bowl appearance. Bush would have a super bowl ring that he didn’t do much to earn and a black mark next to his name forever. Seems right.

  11. If Reggie wasn’t elgible when they voted, how many of his votes would have gone to Matt Leinart, who was third in the voting? Just saying……..

  12. All parties here can screw off–Reggie Bush especially. Vince Young will be out of the NFL soon and despite what Mack Brown and Colt McCoy think, Young doesn’t want sloppy seconds at this point. Colt McCoy ought to worry about his own career or lack thereof at this point. There was talk he might not even make the Browns’ roster but it looks like he made it for now. He better show more toughness in the NFL than he did in the Championship game if he wants to have a career worth mentioning. Otherwise, he can take an announcing job talking about the QB who was mentioned in his wedding song.

  13. Brother Spedjones, I saw your post on Gold’s blog today, predicting that Stanford is going to win big over UCLA this weekend.

I think you have spent so much time trolling among these Trojans that you have become corrupted — you have begun to think like a Trojan!

Come back, Brother Sped! Don’t go down that road! Come back to the Secret Cadre!

    Do you see the LIGHT?

  14. I appreciate the support Dupree, but I’m a fan, not a blind follower. A realist if you will. I just call ’em like I sees ’em, whether for the Bruins or the Trogans.
