  1. Scott – Being the whiz investigative journalist that you are, why don’t you take a trip to San Diego and interview Lamar Griffin, the Bush step dad? Clearly, he was 90% of the problem that USC and his step son now have to deal with. Reggie was up here going to school and this greedy pig was in SD scamming to get out of his security guard position and make it big with his step son through any means possible. I think any insights on what his thoughts are now would be very revealing. What do you think Scott, a little road trip…

  2. The Donkey wants Trojan 70 to know that Scott’s aspires to be a columnist not a investigative reporter — or a reporter for that matter.

The Donkey would like yahoo to complete their report and interview Lamar Griffin.

First off I will start by saying that the Pac 10’s rated as the number 2 conference by the computers (http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/fbc10.htm) and only 1.09 points behind the SEC. If the conference pulls off some good wins this week, I wouldnt be surprised to see the conference at number 1.

Also, if you are unfamiliar with the Saragin ratings, I suggest you check them out sometimes. Its computer based, but they are pretty neat.
In his computer rankings there are 5 Pac 10 teams (six if you count the Utes) in the top 22, which is the most of any conference. Oregon is actually a clear cut number 2 right now. I am going to guess that if the Beavs beat Louisville saturday, then they will jump into his computer top 25 with a win and a solid loss.

    2. Oregon
    11. USC
    12. Utah
    13. Cal
    15. Stanford
    22. Zona
    35. OSU

Again you can see those rankings here, http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/fbt10.htm

Oregon State also has the third toughest schedule in the country.
The lowest rated FBS team is Akron at 194. Washington State is the lowest rated BCS conference team at 115.

    Onto some interesting individual stats:
The Pac 10 currently has 5 starting quarterbacks who have yet to throw an interception (I hope I didnt just jinx that).
Andrew Luck, Matt Barkley, Jake Locker, Ryan Katz, and Kevin Riley.

The Pac 10 is also tied with the SEC and Big 10 for the most players in the top 25 of passing efficiency.

    3. Kevin Riley- 205
    7. Andrew Luck- 185
    11. Nick Foles- 175
    12. Matt Barkley- 172
    22. Steven Threet- 158

    Other Notables:

    1. Dan Persa- Northwestern- 212
    4. Case Keenum- 193
    8. Ryan Mallet- 185
    21. Tyrelle Pryor 159
    32. Jake Locker- 150
    79. Ryan Katz- 115
Unranked due to being soo terrible- Kevin Prince- UCLA- 67.51 (this would even be bad in the NFL where 90 is considered good)

Denard Robinson is currently the NCAA leading rusher with 455 yards and has already accounted for 885 total yards! Wow.

The Pac 10 currently lacks statistically pretty running backs. Only 1 running back in the top 25 of rushing which is Marc Tyler at SC with 221 yards.

Oregon is the only conference team in the top 25 for rushing sitting at number 5 averaging 307 yards per game.
Air Force is currently averaging an incredible 423 yards PER GAME! Wow. Good luck Oklahoma.
Nevada, who the past couple of years has been the number 1 rushing offense, is currently 6th averaging 295 yards per game, BUT they are 18th in passing making them the number 1 offense yards per game with 592 yards per game! Good luck Cal.

Oregon is 2nd in total offense, Arizona is 12th, Arizona State is 15th, USC 43 (426 ypg) Oregon St is 117th. This is YPG based.

Kent St and Fresno are 1 and 2 in Defensive RYPG giving up less then 1 yard per carry.
Cal is sitting at third giving up 1.43 yards per carry.
Most of the conference is in the 40s and 50s against the run. USC is 66 (139 a game and 4.29 per carry) Oregon State is 118.

The Pac 10 seems to be the best conference against the Pass though, which could make things interesting. Top conference in Pass Defense with the most highly rated efficient passers. Hmmm.

    4. Zona
    7. Stanford
    10. UCLA
    15. Cal
    15. Oregon
    44. Oregon St
    50. Boise
    116 USC- 324 ypg

Five seems to once again be the magic number with the Pac 10. There are 5 teams in the top 20 for total defense. Pretty impressive.

    1. Cal
    3. Arizona
    7. Stanford
    11. Oregon
    17. Arizona State
    49. Boise State
    105. Oregon State
    107. USC 464 pg

Theres another 5 for the pac 10. 5 teams in the top 25 of turnover margin
    6. Cal
    7. Oregon St
    7. Oregon
    15. Zona
    15. Stanford
    74. USC -.5 per game
    1. Ohio State
    84. Boise

I found this statistic sort of interesting, although I am assuming that part of it is inaccurate due to a couple of teams being listed as a home team in a neutral site game.

The statistic is Attendance Percentage per capacity. Basically is the percentage of fans at a game based on the capacity of the stadium.

First is Rice, but it looks like it counted that game at Reliant as a home game for them. 70445 was the attendance where their home stadium holds 47,000.

    2. Louisville 127.09
    5. Oregon- 109.45%
    6. Marshall- 108.85%
    8. Nebraska 105.65 <<< Thats their like 310th straight sell out 15. Utah 100.89% 11. Michigan 102.9% (average 113,090) 24. BYU 99.57 55. USC 86.93% (81375) There are 22 teams at 100% or more. I believe this will be a more interesting stat to look at towards the end of the season. Here is the Minnesota Scouting Report: 1-1 (win over MTSU and Loss to South Dakota) **National rank is first and then the average per game in parenthesis** Rushing Offense: 18 (242) Passing Offense: 66 (204) Total O: 29 (447) Scoring O: 53 (31) Rush D: 52 (119) Pass Eff D: 116 (177.5) Total D: 82 (381) Scoring D: 88 (29) Duane Bennett is currently the NCAA 6th leading rusher with 145.5 yards per game. Watch out for Mike Rallis in the secondary who already has 2 picks (tied for 3rd most)
