Caesar Break

Former USC quarterback Matt Cassell was asked by Kansas City radio station WHB the last time he spoke to Pete Carroll.
“I think it was the week I took over for Tom Brady, when I was going to make the start at the Jets stadium, he gave me a call and told me he believed in me.”
I wonder if Carroll ever told Cassell he believed in him when he was at USC? I’m sure Cassell thought the same thing.

  1. It’s pretty evident, Scott, that based upon his 39-2 record as the starting quarterback at USC, that Pete Carroll chose the wrong guy in Matt Leinart.

  2. Interesting fodor for thought. Cassell has been discounted as a top QB by every expert from ESPN to Yahoo, yet his W-L record is amazing. I wonder if Leinart will get another chance to achieve what his backup has achieved.

  3. The next time they talk will be when he asks Pete to introduce him for his induction into the Hall of Fame. That would make a great story.

  4. And Scott Wolf in his usual Negative Nancy role reads something negative into Cassell’s response…even though Wolf’s account –as usual– is secondhand.

    What a bleepin loser!
