  1. Last night was the beginning of the end, expect a LOT more losses in the coming years, it will be ugly.

Will it take 4 coaches and 25 years to get back to where SC was 3 years ago?

  2. GooGoo, maybe. But it took 9 years of TOTAL domination of the Pac 10 for you to get to this “enjoyable” time. It’s been since 1954 that Fucla has one even 1/2 of a national championship. Enjoy it. It won’t last as long as your sorry program has been $h!tty (and still is)

  3. I don’t think it will “take 4 coaches and 25 years” for USC to rebound. I do think Kiffin (both father and son) needs to go! Haden must bring in new blood. And I agree, things will get worse for USC. Expect lots of games with barely 50,000 in attendance and large losses. Last night I felt truly sad.

Thank you Reggie Bush! You F**KING A**HOLE!!!!!!!

  4. “Thank you Reggie Bush! You F**KING A**HOLE!!!!!!!”

True…but that’s only part of the problem..PC dumped this team and put the school in desperation mode…hence the Kiffin era…hence the demise of USC…Pete can take some of the blame too.

  5. hate to break it to you trogies, but this year’s crummy team is not, in the slightest, related to sanctions. It’s only the beginning of the end, with the real pain 2-3 years down the road still. CHEAT ON!

  6. Oh, and I sure hope SC continues to recruit the best WRs and RBs in the country. Seems like that strategy is working wonders on D now. HAHA! KIFFIN ON!

  7. sped, I actually agree. There are always cycles. Did anyone ever think Fla St, Miami, Penn St, etc would ever have a slump? Not when they were on top. I always thought Pete’s Win Forever was bull$h!t and it was. We may be “down” for more than 2-3 years. Who knows? But one thing is for sure, our cycle didn’t start in 1955 and still continues today. AND we will ALWAYS be SUPERIOR to fucla in this town.

  8. that’s BS, NOBS. Just remember back to the 90’s when SC couldn’t pay for a win against UCLA. It’s about to happen again. SC will have totally given up by the end of this season and UCLA will trounce.

  9. ROTFLMAO! Ive Been telling you all for years!

Maybe many of you rah-rahs have now managed to wipe Pete Carrolls old crusted jizz out of your eyes to see this team/program for what it really is. Which is, nowhere near playing for national championships.

And its only going to get worse over the next three years, unless the sanctions are reduced.

You heard it hear first (again): USC is at least 10 years and 2 head coaching changes away from being a Top 5 program.

    I told you so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. sped, you are laughable. fucla will win some games. Just the way it is. fucla is looked upon as a second rate school to SC. Period. So you beat SC 9 or 10 times in a row in the 90’s. How many national championships did you win? Answer: ZERO You did win 20 in a row and STILL didn’t win the NC. Laughable. Could care less what you think. I’ve NEVER met anyone that went to SC that wishes they’d gone to fucla. I’ve met many from fucla that would have love to have gone to SC but couldn’t afford it or admit they made a mistake going to WestB00B Tech. ROFLMAO

  11. Scott Wolf and the rest of the crybabies:

I am tired of the whining. One loss, a tough one at that, and granted, to an opponent we *should* have put 60 on, and you guys are squealing like the world is ending and calling for a new head coach. That is the same type of mentality that led some people to sell everything in March 2009 when the S&P 500 was 40% lower than where it is now. Grow up.

Nothing impressive about last night’s game? How about Allen Bradford running like a FULL GROWN MAN. He acts like a professional, doesn’t give up, and runs like a freight train. You whiners should be washing his feet with your hair to have a man like that on our side. We are going to rush for 3,000 yards this year, but to read many of the comments on this web you’d think the sun will never shine again.
Who here looked at the box score from the Stanford/Oregon game? Oregon ran for 388 yards. Do you think Allen, Mark and Dillon might take notice? We may lose, but we are going to take a pound of flesh with us.

Many of you are acting like a bunch of spoiled brats. Just because we are SC doesn’t mean we are entitled to anything. The program will have to earn it the hard way, just like they did coming out of 2001 and into 2002. Think of the difference in mentality amongst the SC faithful back then compared to now. We would have been grateful just to beat both rivals in a single year. Now the false dream of an undefeated season with an AP title are over and it’s an outpouring of self-pity and wailing to Mommy.

What did you think was going to happen this year? 1. Inexperienced secondary 2. True sophomore quarterback 3. Coaching change 4. Scholarship losses

We will lose more games this year, but teams are going still going to have to give maximum effort to beat us, and if they do beat us they are going to celebrate
like it’s their biggest accomplishment in a decade. The question is whether the SC community is going to bail like a bunch of Dallas Cowboys bandwagoners or man up, be supportive, and stay focused on the long-term and the tremendous assets we have to work with.

I don’t know if Lane Kiffin is the answer. Nobody knew if Pete Carroll was the answer. But I do know that Lane was easily the best hire we could have hoped to make. He has SC lineage. He brought in a full staff of proven winners and saved the recruiting class. He is a rabid student of the game, recruits like a maniac, and will not be outworked by any of his peers. The full picture won’t emerge for a couple of years until a full cycle has occurred.

Until then we have a choice. We can behave like Allen Bradford or we can behave like Emmanuel Moody.

P.S. I can’t believe any of you guys are taking the bait from the UCLA fools who comment on this site. Their program is so pathetic one of these posters even has a handle of “13-9” to commemorate the one time they beat us since 1998.

  12. Hey stupedjones… listen and shut up.

When UCLA does a quarter of what USC has done in the last 10 years, then you can open your fly infested mouth. Until then, our “down years” are what the pathetic Panda’s would consider good years. Every SC fan knows we are going to have a 4 or 5 loss season this year so listening to your third grade analysis of football is pretty embarrassing.

As far as all the Kiffin bashing… Let’s pretend like we know more about football than we actually do people. Carroll started with 2 wins and 5 losses. Everyone said the same things about him 9 years ago too. Let’s start using more logic and less emotion when expressing our opinions folks.

  13. Snarfy!!!!

Thank God! Finally some logic! Ok, at least I know one person knows something about football. I may just retire from this blog now.

  14. Huskies win this year for the same 3 reasons they won last year and got spanked the year before.
    Cushing Maualuga Mathews III
Get off the Locker bandwagon. He missed as many open receivers as he had drops. This secondary (with the exception of Wright) gives equal opportunity to give every QB the chance to be VY for a day. Hate to say it, but Luck is going to put up Dan Marino kind of numbers against these guys.

  18. NOBS, you’re so freaking dumb. In no way am I a bRUIN fan, but in your twisted little brain, anyone who says anything against USC is a bruin, what a pathetic life you must lead

  19. LOL @ Snarfy, another rah rah who can’t see the train coming straight for his nose, poor little fellow.

  20. Hey, buck up guys!! you dudes are going to put the Secret Cadre out of work! we can’t disrupt and antagonize when there is already total chaos and panic across trOJie Nation!!

the Secret Cadre’s Secret Mission has been to poke fun at the Kool-Aid guzzling trOJIes who refused to acknowledge the cheating, lying regimes at Southern Cal…now that the Kool-Aid is wearing off, what the heck are we supposed to do??

i am a humble fat little man who lives in my mother’s basement, wears glasses, has no girlfriend (or is gay), and works in a candy factory…antagonizing trOJies is the only pleasure i get out of my life (if you call it that)!!

c’mon guys, remember you won 2 Natl champeenships in a row!! you can still win the AP Title!! (they’ll give it to anyone if it gets them publicity) Barks is still in the Highsman Race!! don’t give up!!! i want my Kool-Aid guys back!!! 🙁 🙁 🙁

  21. I’m confused CB’s mom. Do you mean when UCLA loses control of its program, gets hit with the worst probation in decades and then hires Lame Kiffin you’ll respect them? HAHA. LOSE ON!

BTW, NOBS, that was a lot of words for a guy who doesn’t care about UCLA.

As for snarfy, you’re wrong. Furd, Oregon and Zona will beat SC and not think it’s all that special. Just like last year. Nobody thinks SC is special anymore but you guys.

  22. Ghost of Charlie Bucket: Please describe the cheating USC engaged in with respect to the Reggie Bush situation. The guy was driving a goddammed souped up Chevy at a time when any fool with a pulse could get a loan. Yeah, maybe SC should have pursued that further, but if every school ran to ground every case of an athlete driving a half decent car only the second and third strings would be on the field.

I Dig Go Go Girls: Do you have anything constructive to say? Any unique observations to share? The fact that you’re not a USC fan but you troll this board looking for excuses to talk smack tells me you’re the type of loser who goes to bars and uses the outcomes of sporting events as a pretext to get in fights.

Scott Wolf: As I’ve reflected further on the title of this post, it’s occurred to me that you are not an enterprising journalist looking for answers. There are answers. One place to start would be the psychological impact of Pete Carroll abandoning the compact he established in the program at the beginning – every spot is up for grabs to the guy who works hardest to get it; nobody is entitled to their place.
    Always compete.

Last year, Matt Barkley and Joe McKnight did not have to compete to retain their places. They became the chosen ones that couldn’t lose their spots no matter how poorly they played. Aaron Corp or Mitch Mustain should have played ahead of Barkley. Allen Bradford or C.J. Gable should have played ahead of McKnight.
It was self-evident to anyone who watched with an unbiased perspective.

Guys who came to the program in 07, 08 and 09 did so with a set of expectations the coaching staff established. Then the compact was violated. Betraying a group’s principles can be poisonous stuff. What kind of damage did that do? How prevalent was the damage? Does it still linger? Will we have to wait until all those guys are gone to have a team that is 100% in unison with each other?

Those are the types of questions you should be trying to find answers for.
Instead we’re presented with a post entitled “No Answers”. There may as well be a frowny face emoticon next to it.

I want to be clear that I am not a Pete Carroll hater. I have enormous respect for what he did for the program and for the university. I loved every minute of it.
He changed the whole attitude of the campus. It was night and day compared to the way it was in the 90’s. He was a leader and a teacher.

I don’t know why things changed last year, but all human endeavors are cyclical. It was remarkable that in a system as cyclical as college sports we came within a few plays of playing for 7 straight national championships. That level of excellence can’t be sustained indefinitely. We have to go through the inevitable “recession” now, but we are going to come out strong on the other side.

  23. spedjones,

I am not arguing that this year’s team is special. The individual talents may be special, but the overall package is not. It’s obvious. As a program, however, SC is special. It has the most special heritage in the country.

Apparently you didn’t watch the end of any of those losses last year to see the way those teams and their fans celebrated. We will have further losses in the Pac-10 again this year, and again, those teams and fans will probably celebrate more than they would after their other victories.

If SC isn’t special, why does somebody on this board have the handle “13-9” to celebrate the one time UCLA beat SC since 1998?

  24. Hey Stupedjones… you’re confused? What a surprise.

And as far as my son goes… I used to read what you had to say, but I lose interest 1/2 a sentence in now. You used to be entertaining, but like aging grandfathers, your stories are old, repetitive, and nobody other than yourself is listening.

…I picture you accidentally farting as you type too.

  25. that was last year, snarfy. This year it’ll be expected, not hoped for. You really think Stanford is sitting around scared of SC right now? Puhleeeze.

CBM – it’s never on accident.

NOBS, that response was about all I have come to expect from trogies. Keep repeating the same thing and maybe it’ll be true. Just like with your declining program… I can hear you now – “we don’t SUC, we don’t SUC…”

    How long until Baxter transfers?

  26. sped, I do care about fucla. I need blue collar guys to work at the plant I own.

sped, I do care about fucla. I need blue collar guys to work at the plant I own.

sped, I do care about fucla. I need blue collar guys to work at the plant I own.

BTW, your old lady is worse than our defense.

  27. Well I don’t know what game you were watching scott but AB looked pretty damn impressive to me. Oh and the UW kicker was impressive? Let me guess because he made a chip shot to beat USC.
You and your minions of bRUIN trolls and doom & gloom USC fans should go play in traffic now.
I would also add theres nothing impressive about your BULLSHIT video “reports” either but thats just me.

  28. Come on guys this was a tough loss but i think we are bashing the wrong kiffin. Lane was the best hire under the circumstances and he is good and will get better. the offense is doing ok. It is old man kiffin that is bad. i thought his defensive genius was going to carry the team but he obviously need to get it together. the defense sucks

  29. Where are all these National Titles SC won in the 90’s or 2000’s? I count only 1 crystal ball and that was won by the only “professional” team in L.A.

  30. Lane is NOT good and he won’t get much better. Unfortunate for the trogans, fortunate for the rest of us.

  31. “Nothing impressive about last night’s game at the Coliseum”…

Geez I thought it was a pretty damn entertaining game, especially for those fortunate enough to watch from an objective standoint. All the many hyped games yesterday turned out to be clunkers.

This game to me was like some of the great Pac 10 battles that USC was a part of in the early 90s, when it wasn’t quite Carroll-esque but definitely not a Hackett s-show either. For better or worse, looks like there could be a few more of these types of games coming our way this year.

  32. LMAO @ DiamondD. The great Pac 10 battle was taking place in Oregon. The show at Fig Tech was an afterthought.

  33. @spedjones, when will you guys just shut up?
UCLA fans swear like Los Angeles suddenly belongs to the Bruins when UCLA football hasn’t been relevant EVER.
You say you’re close every year.
USC leads CFB in 1st round picks, #1 picks, NFL hall of famers, bowl wins, Rose Bowls, etc.
USC has a proud tradition, and despite seeming to be down this year, will show on December 4th why we’ll always be #1 in Los Angeles.
Hell, even if we lose, you’ll still just be ucla who upset (key word being “upset”) USC.
What tradition does UCLA football have? The bruins will ALWAYS come second to USC in college football.
    Fight on!

  34. UCLA = 3 game winning streak, soon to be 4
USC = 1 game losing streak, soon to be 2

  35. Didn’t think I’d actually hear any chest-beating about a fourth quarter rally to beat Washington State and yet I ended up giving the Ruins too much credit. That sets up a pulsating Mountain West Conference-esque matchup in Berkeley.

  36. NOBS you’re full of shit…everyone knows that 75% of USC students applied to be Bruins, but their application were rejected because of the tough admission standards UCLA has, thus the reason these “trOJies” hate UCLA so much, because their mommies and daddies gave them hell for making them spend twice the money for an inferior education.

  37. Didn’t expect I’d hear any chest-beating about a 4th quarter rally to beat UW….oh, wait. HAHA DiamondD – LOSE ON!
