Discuss The Game

Yes, the defense was run up-and-down the field. But I think the QB play hurt USC quite a bit (and maybe more).

  1. There’s one thing that’s now clear, and it’s that Monte Kiffin is no miracle worker and very much human. What he knows is clearly outdated and useless. And btw, why is SC so darn slow in everything they do? They look like some lousy Big10 teams of the past.

  2. Hey Kiff, you said you’ve never seen an offense play so quickly, it’s called conditioning. It works but not that many coaches make it a top priority as apparently Oregon has.

  3. Hurts, but the D gave me more than I was expecting. 6 or 7 stops had to be enough for us to win, and it wasn’t. Offense couldn’t get it done. Congrats to Oregon — go on and bring home a NC for the pac-10.

  4. Some curious 3rd down play calls on offense – killed at least 2 drives. Our defense did a decent job under the circumstances. We needed a hell of a lot more from the offense. Fight on!

  6. @Charlie’s Imitator,
    @USC owns South Central
    @freeStinker
    @KNOBBED
    @Monopoly
    @moron is a moron,

    you are all sucking balls – Oregon balls…now that you’re done sucking balls, it’s time to lick my ass, losers!! 😛 (_!_)

    53-32 USC has now lost 3 of their last 4 games…yeah we suck…BUT SO DO YOU!!! LMAO

  7. We new SC would have to be near perfect to win that one. Oregon made us pay dearly for nearly every mistake, and that was ultimately the difference in this game.

  8. Your team had its chances.

    Oregon was turribul on punt and kickoff coverage.

    USC’s offensive line gave Barkley way more time to pass than he should have gotten.

    A whole bunch of potential picks by Duck D did not materialize. Duck tight end dropped everything.

    And that early sack on Barkley, Ducks should have recovered the fumble inside the 5 yd line.
    That lucky tip and pick at the end of the 1st half prevented a blowout.

    ——————-

    No way is USC #24 in the country.
    I would put USC as high as #6, even after this loss.

  9. Greetings..
    I’ve been away for a while vacationing @ “CLUB FED”, but thanks to my good friend Harry (“Don’t wait in jail, Call Harry for bail”), I’m a Free Bird! Harry isn’t CHEAP, and I owe my CADRE pals big time…OUR Vegas winnings are going to take care of Harry and Louie (Knuckles) Salvatorre.
    The 7 pt. line was “KNOBS” (aka “A no Brainer”). Ariz.St. walking over Wazou means……YOU GUESSED IT !!!!!!!!!
    5 & 8 is looking GREAT!
    (p.s…..while in The Joint…I ran into an “Associate” who told me science V had entered the witness protection program, explains him being LOW KEY…., I always knew Sci V was a rat!)

    Life’s been good to me, This COULD BE YOUR YEAR!

  10. SW makes a good point. Mr. Barkley lost his grip on the game. Every audible Barkley called went no where. Give a B+ college QB 8 seconds in the pocket and he will raise Hell, improvised running as well as passing. An average/below average QB will eat the pigskin or throw the ball away. Why is it that for the second year in a row the only meaningful PAC-10 opponent that allowed the Trojans Defense and QB to shine is Cal?

    Oregon 111, your offensive line is Amazing !! The best in college football. Your defense plays intelligently and effectively. Your coaching staff on both sides of the ball outcoached our people badly. This should be the Year of the Ducks. Congratulations!!

    Finally, the Carroll, Sarkesian, Kiffin offensive coordination is a broken-down predictable sham. The senseless play calling continually handcuffs our studs. I wonder how long Haden will put up with 8-5/7-6 seasons.

  11. @oregon111, easy to give compliments after beating a team, you would rank USC #6??? it’s hard enough to find a team in the top-25 with 3 losses, let alone 3 losses in 4 games…

  12. There are a few things I don’t like:
    1. I don’t like Coach Sunshine making the reads of the defense and switching the plays.
    2. I don’t like Barkley’s new throwing motion. It’s exaggerated and I’m sure it gives the coverage too much time to figure out exactly where he is throwing. All the advantage of the rolling pocket seems lost with that.
    3. I don’t like Oregon’s offense. I don’t like watching it. If college football becomes that, I can probably still be a Trojan fan, but not a college football fan. There is no doubt that 1/2 the Pac-12 will be running those two staple plays and no huddle by the 2012 season.
    4. I don’t like punting on anything past our own 35 yard line, 4th and 5 or shorter.
    5. I don’t like Oregon’s #35. He should have been tossed for that face mask on Tyler. At the very least, Kiffin should have called a play specifically designed to level him with a crackback.

    If we had depth on defense, that game is close. But I am overall proud of the effort by the Trojans. Ducks have a phenomenal team. I hope they win out. But I fear what that will do the game for the coming decade.

  13. Pete left USC with 75 scholie players. The NCAA rape left USC with 70 or so. Still, Lane and the coaches, although outmanned, had an excellent game plan tonight.

    The MB7/O’Dowd fumbled exchange and MB7s endzone Int were the difference. While the D did not dominate, they played well for them with a good 5 or 6 three and outs.

    It was our offense that lost it. Why couldn’t we run on the smaller water fowls? How may pass break-ups on accurate MB7 passes did the Ducks have? MB7 was under pressure all night, and sacked a few times.

    Oregon are a bunch of arrogant, convict, pricks. But, their defense is very good. Their offense is the best in the land. Hope they win the BCS fraud.

    Personally, I feel great about USC. Give Lane and CEO a few years to recruit their players and USC will beat Oregon in 2012. Great game. Too bad the NCAA rape and Pete’s early check out left the Trojans undermannned.

  14. Oregon was better, plain and simple. Hats off to Chip Kelly and his staff, they have built a damn fine team. Good luck the rest of the way Ducks. Aside from our offense being inconsistent and some questionable play calls, I do think we are seeing progress over the first part of the season. Hopefully SC can continue to improve. Beat ASU!

  16. I was hoping the defense was getting better, but the bottom line is the LBs are TERRIBLE! Herbstreet pointed this out. Kennard is slower than sh*t. And the DBs are terrible. Too bad Carroll’s son thought Gallipo was better than Mathews. But the bottom line, they should win the rest of their games, except for at Oregon State. Arizona is overrated.

  17. I am bummed we lost. The best team won. Congratulations to the Ducks. They are an outstanding team and I hope they represent the PAC10 well the rest of the season. We played well in some parts. Turnovers killed us and we were giving Oregon game until last quarter. I don’t see us losing again this season.

  18. Conquest is right–our LB’s are a severe liability. I know this isn’t news to everyone here but not only are they athletically challenged, they can’t tackle and they don’t seem to understand their assignments. The best-playing LB right now is 210 lb. Shane Horton and that’s not even his position.

    Congratulations to Chip Kelly. Their wardrobe is more voluminous than their playbook. But as Shareece pointed out, they execute perfectly. They can score with a high-tempo pace or they can bleed you with 11, 12, 17-play drives. They are in control.

  19. OH SO SUGAR SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!!

    trOJies set a$$ whipped by the spead X 3!!!

    talk about a sugar sweeeeeeeet LOCK!!!!

    oh the money, such easy money!!!!

    the quacky Ducks din’t even break a sweat tripling the LOCK 7 pt(??????) spread!!!!

    oh sugar sweeeeeet!!!!

    Yoda, Count, Brother Dupree, Westwood, BruRob, ThaiMex..it’s time to PAR-TAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

  20. BruinRob, I think USC is still up there because the usual good teams are not that good this year and the other teams with momentum are crapping out.

    Game was even 1/2 way thru 3rd qtr.

    Then usc defense got tired and offense got predictable.

    USC can’t play D against the spread and Duck D can stop you after they see all your plays.

    USC has lots of nfl talent on O, but is too s-l-o-w and out of shape on D.

    But if makes you feel better, your ucla team ran the ball better against the Ducks than usc did.

  21. @freeStinker A.K.A. scscin5, STFU you loser!! your trOJies will lose the next 3 games, meaning they will lost 4 in a row and 6 of 7 games before beating the horrible Irish and then on December 4th UCLA will beat your trOJies in the “who sucks more” Bowl…which means USC will end the season 6-7 taste it!! Lick it!! 😛 (_!_) Lick it good!!

  22. Bruin Rob – I want to congratulate your parents on their fine upbringing of you. You must be a real pleasure at the Thanksgiving table. Really, your team is toilet scum and you come on here and draw ass caricatures and lick it. You are a true embarassement to your family, your school(oh that’s right you didn’t go to ucla did you), and society in general. You probably voted for Obama!

  23. Wolf is quick to pile on the quarterback. Such a claim is only to confirm others’ comments about Wolf knowing little about football.
    Those who watched the entirety of the game, not just the player with the ball, will see that the Oregon DBs were shutdown when they needed to be. Barks had nothing but covered receivers whenever Oregon rushed only 3 or 4. I thought he made some good decisions with the ball, and can blame the picks on placement, not so much on decision-making.
    The running game was equally deficient. If you can’t run the ball in CFB, you can’t win. Take a peak at the # of carries that went for >10 yards, and you can see why Oregon won.
    D-line just got gassed when they couldn’t stay off the field, and then couldn’t get off the field. Just too many close but not quite moments for the LBs and DBs.
    The curse of having 4-5 NFL backers at one time on your college defense is that fewer stud recruits want to come and sit behind them or follow in their footsteps.
    One last observation: Has anyone ever seen an official try to spot the ball and run away from it so quickly? A subconcious thing, I am sure, but the U of O press affects them.
    All compliments to the experienced Oregon team. May you get a chance to meet up with Boise State. And not step on your own d**k this time. Two BCS teams from the Pac10 adds to the coffers.

  24. Wolf is an idiot. It could just easily be said that the QB play is what kept the Trojans close. If Barks throws a TD instead of an unlucky interception late in the fourth, SC is only down 7.

    Wolf is an embittered Monday morning armchair QB. What a loser.

  25. trojan70, I would take you more serious if you were more consistent in your judgment of others, meaning the vulgarity on here used by your fellow trojans, so until you show me how subjective you can be, I will dismiss you as trojan in pain over you lousy football team.
