Scott, your guess is better than ours. What do you think our chances are of getting any scholarships back after the appeal? Will Haden be able to guess better after the hearing Saturday? Thank you, Scott.

A: History says almost no chance. But I think the NCAA might throw USC a bone because of the recent bad publicity it has received over Cam Newton and Ohio State plus the new director of enforcement is coming to L.A. in early February to meet with the media. So maybe they are more image conscious and feel like doing something to mitigate the penalties.

Q: Peter Parker said:

Do you know if the athletic department hires student assistants and how can one apply? Can you please tell me how a student can apply to work for a spot? Thanks.

A: Yes, it does hire student workers. Go to the second floor of Heritage Hall (the Jess Hill wing) and tell the front desk you want to apply for a student position. They should be able to help you.

  1. wolf, you are wise…but in this case, as much as it pains me to say it, you are wrong.

in this age of rampant cheating, the NCAA is trying to send a message of strength, not weakness. objective readers must recall that the cheating rampage at Southern Cal dwarfs anything seen before!! blatant pay for play in basketball AND football and evidence of coach involvement! add the level of illicit benefit, in the SIX FIGURES range!! conclusion: Southern Cal got off easy!!

there will be no reduction of sanctions, so let it be written, so let it be done.
