Hobbi To USC

Offensive guard Cyrus Hobbi of Scottsdale, Ariz., committed to USC.
“USC without a doubt, was above those other schools,” said Hobbi, who picked USC over Arizona State and UCLA. “The only problem with USC I had was the coaching staff. We got off on the wrong foot. They apologized and made up for it. I couldn’t be happier with my decision.
“I’m excited to get out there and get this balling rolling. They are loading up on talent.”
What about USC’s bowl ban for next season?
“These coaches told me I’d be playing 51 games instead of 52,” Hobbi said.

  1. Maybe he was just a little scared of DACOACHO at first…

Great choice. Chance to start right away if he proves he is good enough.

  2. Hobbi in the house!!!

Although, “we got off on the wrong foot”. ????????

Hope this guys not a prima donna.

  3. You know guys, paying recruits while on probation will lead to the Death Penalty… just ask SMU.

  4. Lost another one eh Dynasty? ucla is on the way to the worst recruiting class this year in football in recorded history. What a farce your athletic program is…hang on women’s tiddliwink season starts soon.

  5. Hobbi be blown holes open on the line for Marc to the T! D bax as well.

He blown holes open like I blow open FUCLA Dynasty’s Mom!!!!!!!!!!

  6. that’s a sweet committment since we’re going down to the wire now and it’s in the area of the biggest need. if we could also get aubrey walker i think you’d have no choice but to give the staff an A for 2011 recruiting – esp under the circumstances.

  7. @Monopoly – You are really reinforcing that image of SCCC being a highly regarded academic institution. Congrats. I’m sure all the other alums are proud of your razor-like wit.

  8. Hey Scott, no negative spin on this one?

Huge pick-up for us. Reading the text from his press conference, Hobbi sounds like a true leader and team player which complement his obvious athleticism. Love the attitude. He’s definitely earned my respect and I’ll be rooting for him to succeed. Hopefully the attitude which appears to focus on team and hard work will continue to permeate the entire squad.

Welcome Cyrus Hobbi – will lift a cold one tonight to our newest Trojan!

  9. Gotta respect Coach Kitten for at least being honest enough not to sell this kid on ever playing in a PAC 12 championship game.

    Appeal On!

  10. Hey UCLgay Fantasy,

Notice you are the only Troll that’s left posting on this blog? Run along with your other hobbits or we’ll gang bang you like we did the rest.

I think your total number of recruits is up to 8 now! Everyone on your feet for an 8 clap!!!! Wwwwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

  11. Hey Hobbi, call your buddy Niklas from the all star game and get him on board too!!!

    Fight On

  12. @Dynasty: Your trash-talk game has bottomed out. You’ve had one or two halfway funny posts, but now you are racing toward being a has-been, posting worn out retread phrases. Go back to the baby-blue blogs and do something important, like discussing the Weasel’s brilliance. Post on, powder-blue pole dancer.

  13. Bruins have no shame, period. Year after year, over this past decade, they have made bold statements, very few, if any, of which they have been able to back. “The dynasty is over” campaign, the “Dream Team” coaching staff (made up of 2 assistants who had just interviewed and been turned down for the head coach job), every one of Rick’s outbursts to the handful of retarded bruin fans sticking around after yet another embarrassing home defeat, any one of the other asinine or attention seeking remarks that have been irresponsibly been publicized in clear desperation.

Yet, quite remarkably, bruins have emerged from this period of failure (call it mediocrity, at best) a more brazen and cocky bunch. What is the source of that pride (excluding the fascination with the NCAA-imposed sanctions against your rival)? Is it that ucla managed to completely destroy what was considered an upper tier Pac-10 football program? That the basketball team was unable to close the deal three straight years when it had a handful of future NBA all stars? That the AD, during a panic attack, gave a contract extension to a vastly overrated OC simply to ensure that he was not lured back to the crosstown rival? Please explain it to us, because from the outside, it all seems ridiculous and embarrassing.

You have nothing left to offer.

  14. i love this kid!! he’s a theatre major, and his comment about the coaches, “We got off on the wrong foot. They apologized and made up for it.” is so candid! i just hope he can keep his emotions in check! a player who loses his composure, can be less effective than he might be otherwise!

SC for Life: i can’t believe you worry about him being a Prima Donna!

  15. Son.

Was it really worth the wear and tear on your fingertips to post that? Talk about phoning one in.
    AH-WHOooo…

  16. that’s one for you Jethro. even the ChuckerBucker misses once in a while.

now go soak your head in the Cee-ment pond.

  17. Rusty Bucket’s post was one of the best I have seen here in a long time. A put-down that is backed up with facts.

Whereas that was an awesome comment from the fake Bucket, ol’ Ugly; I read him when I’m having difficulty falling asleep.

  18. hey R-Buck, you know what’s really ridiculous and embarassing? trOXans popping off about their Athletics when:
Football program is in midst of bowl ban, forfeited two years of wins, has been stripped of BCS title, disgraced, no schollies.

Basketball team forfeited season of wins, on probation, coach left town in disgrace, never won anything.

Baseball team: laughing stock of Pac 10, no future, run by comittee.

somtimes, we just gotta remind you trOXans that it’s over, you’be been Yesterday U for some time.

    AUUUUU-WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

  19. Nice try again Son, err, I mean Count but that still looks like a middle school paper compared to Rusty Buckets’ masters thesis above.
