Depending on who else USC gets between now and Wednesday, the Trojans could sign junior-college offensive lineman Miles Mason of El Camino College in Torrance.

Hobbi’s Other Role
Offensive guard Cyrus Hobbi said he wants to major in theater.
“I’m looking to be an actor,” he said.
He is the second commit to say he chose USC because of its theater major, the other being tailback Amir Carlisle.
Hobbi’s Role
Cyrus Hobbi said during his press conference today he is going to play either guard or center at USC.
“Whatever helps the team, I’m all for it,” he said.
Hobbi To USC
Offensive guard Cyrus Hobbi of Scottsdale, Ariz., committed to USC.
“USC without a doubt, was above those other schools,” said Hobbi, who picked USC over Arizona State and UCLA. “The only problem with USC I had was the coaching staff. We got off on the wrong foot. They apologized and made up for it. I couldn’t be happier with my decision.
“I’m excited to get out there and get this balling rolling. They are loading up on talent.”
What about USC’s bowl ban for next season?
“These coaches told me I’d be playing 51 games instead of 52,” Hobbi said.
Twin Package
USC is hoping to close out signing date with commitments from Rancho Verde of Moreno Valley teammates Junior Pomee (wide receiver) and Ryan Henderson (cornerback). The pair are down to USC and Utah.
Weekend Visit
Defensive tackle Delvon Simmons of McKeesport, Penn., is expected to visit USC this weekend.
Bad Timing
If the Tennessee Titans fired Jeff Fisher last year, he would have been offered the USC job by former athletic director Mike Garrett.
Morning Buzz
Everything we hear from Serra High School points to wide receiver Marqise Lee picking USC when he announces his college choice next week.
On Butler
Wide receiver Brice Butler’s decision to transfer was probably prudent. We already mentioned on the blog that we expect George Farmer to start opposite Robert Woods next season. And Butler knows Kyle Prater will get a lot more chances than him next season because the coaches will be interested to see if he can actually live up to his hype. They already made a decision that Butler was not in their plans. So his decision makes sense.
