Raider Moves
New Raiders coach Hue “No one has an answer for third-and-20” Jackson reportedly fired former USC coaches Paul Hackett and Ted Tollner, who were Raider assistants last season. It’s especially ironic Jackson fired Hackett because in 1998, Hackett retained Jackson as a USC assistant when Hackett replaced John Robinson.
Why do I include, “No one has an answer for third-and-20” inside Jackson’s name? Because that was his answer as USC offensive coordinator when asked why the offense struggled so much on third-and-long situations.
Payton Update
Last month we mentioned that 2012 commitment Jordan Payton of Oaks Christian and USC could part ways. According to the website, PonyStampede.com, Payton said he is interested in SMU.
“SMU is definitely a school I’m talking with. I would love to take a trip there and have Coach (Adrian) Klemm show me what it’s all about . . . You can tell SMU fans that I’m definitely interested.”
