Intense Night

USC coach Kevin O’Neill held an intense practice tonight at the Galen Center that lasted past 10 p.m. O’Neill said USC’s lack of defensive intensity was troubling, especially in last Saturday’s loss to Arizona and made sure to get his point across to the Trojans tonight.

  1. How about the fact Alex and Mojo look like Div 2 players when they are up against bigger and more athletic players.

And btw, lol @ “Jio is our best player” comment from KO. No wonder Bryce transferred and KO can’t hold a job for more than an average of 3 years in his career.

  2. Hopefully the last hour was spent on free throws as the team’s percentage is downright atrocious!

  3. @SC for Life-
Wouldn’t you look like a D-2 player if you’re a Freshman leading the Pac-10 in minutes? We gotta give Mo Jones a break here. What O’Neill is asking him to do is unprecedented, and it’s likely taking its toll.

Per the Bryce situation, if you haven’t read The Times piece on the “transfer” I suggest you do. Though I do agree that Jio has to step his game up in the second half of the Pac-10 season.

That said, SC’s issues with showing up after a win are troubling. They have a favorable draw the next few games to get that worked out. If they can beat UCLA on Wednesday, they face the Oregon schools at home and go up to face Stanford and Cal, all of which can be beaten. If they can get through that stretch at 5-0, or at worst 4-1, then they can salvage this season.
