More Kiffin

Here’s another quote from Lane Kiffin’s radio interview with radio station XX 1090 in San Diego on whether he favors the Pac-12 title game being played on the home field of one of the two teams:
“I dont know. I think it will take some time to see. I don’t know if in the end that will be the final plan. As you talk about a championship game potentially being up in the northwest where you’re dealing with weather, you know, that’s very unusual for what other conferences do. So I think it’s a good start, but I think it’s going to be a work in progress.”

  1. The two main choices seem to be having the Championship game at 1) the home field of one of the teams 2) a neutral site.

All the pro stadiums could favor some teams (Candlestick Park would be closer to a home game for Stanford or Cal if they made the game. University of Phoenix Stadium would favor the Arizona teams etc.)

That leaves somewhere in Nevada. There’s no way any University would want their players in Vegas so that eliminates Sam Boyd Stadium. Off the top of my head I can only think of is the 31,000 capacity Mackay Stadium in Reno, where the Wolf Pack play. I don’t know what to say about that.

  2. I’d like to see it in Qualcomm, but I’m sure the north division schools would complain about traveling distance.

  3. Sam………..say what? Serious, NO, that is not an option. The SEC plays at the Georgia Dome. How does that not favor Georgia. The Big 12 used to play in Cowboys Stadium. How does that not favor Texas or any of the South Division. The ACC played in Tampa and now Charlotte. Again this favors some school close to these venues. The Big 10 game is going to be in the Colts stadium. How does that not favor Indiana (except they’ll never play in the game because they suck). They should rotate the game from a few locations. Pro stadiums in Arizona and San Francisco should be the locations until or if LA gets a NFL stadium. Then add LA to the mix. San Diego would be a good location, but why spend money in a city that doesn’t have a Pac 12 team. All things being said, it’s probably best the way they have it. Reward the team with the better season, and assure a sell out.

  4. Gnossos……..I get the joke, but it wouldn’t be good to say that you’re playing in the Rose Bowl so you can win and go to the Rose Bowl.

  5. Las Vegas.

This way when Charlize Bucksh*t travels out there to spy on his beloved (err. hated) Trojans in the Championship game, we can dump his body in the desert and be done with this fool!!
